This page aims to help you remove .492 Ransomware for free. Our instructions also cover how any .492 Ransomware file can be recovered.

.492 Ransomware is the name of a new Ransomware crypto virus, which triggers its processes silently, and encrypts the users’ personal files with a very complex algorithm. This algorithm prevents them from being opened or used by any program until a fat amount of money is paid in ransom. The virus also leaves a scary ransom note, which informs the victims about the malicious results and instructs them what to do in order to pay the required ransom. Very often, a short deadline is given to fulfill the demands, after which, the restoration of the encrypted files may not be possible. The hackers, who stand behind this dreadful blackmail scheme, are criminals, who target normal web users, as well as big companies and institutions from different countries and they have no scruples to use various manipulative methods to get the ransom they want. What should you do if you have recently become a victim of .492 Ransomware? Is there a way to avoid the ransom payment and get back your files? This is what we are going to discuss in this article, so stay with us if you want to find out more. You may be interested in checking out our free removal guide, which is assembled to help you detect and remove the Ransomware from your computer. Also, you may want to give the file-restoration tips and instructions included below a try. But before all that, let us tell you more about .492 Ransomware and its dangerous features.

What should you know about .492 Ransomware?

Ransomware is one of the most dangerous types of malware you can encounter. In recent years, the creators of such malware keep coming up with more advanced versions, the sole aim of which is to blackmail the online users for the access to their own data! According to the latest ransomware reports, the .492 Ransomware crypto virus uses a very sophisticated and complex method to make all the information found inside the infected computer unreadable. In fact, the virus uses advanced military-based encryption systems, which are almost impossible to break without a proper decryption key. That key is usually offered to the victims at a high price and they need to strictly fulfill certain ransom instructions in order to receive it. A ransom notification normally gets displayed on the infected computer once the malicious encryption process has been completed and has locked all the files. There, the hackers place their demands, threatening messages and deadlines. If the victims do not pay the required ransom within the given deadline, the hackers usually threaten to destroy the decryption key and leave the files encrypted forever.

How to Decrypt .492 Ransomware files

We have a comprehensive (and daily updated) guide on how to decrypt your files. Check it out here.

If the guide doesn’t help, download the anti-virus program we recommended or try our free online virus scanner. Also, you can always ask us in the comments for help!

What should you do when you get infected?

First of all, we would like to advise you not to act out of fear and not to rush with the ransom payments. The encrypted files cannot be restored without a decryption key, but if you have backups, you don’t need to pay anything to copy the files back on your computer. We are aware that everyone wants to keep their valuable files safe and so we always encourage our readers to store copies of them on external devices – in other words, back them up. Such backups come to the rescue when the originals are destroyed, encrypted by Ransomware like .492 Ransomware or deleted by other malware. Before you plug in the external device, however, you must first remove the virus. You can use the instructions in the manual removal guide for assistance. However, bear in mind that these malicious programs are designed to hide deep in the computer’s system, and they usually consist of many files. That’s why, the best way to detect and remove them all is to scan your PC with an automated malware removal tool like the one suggested below.

But what if you don’t have backups? Well, in such a case there are not many options that can help you restore the affected files, but still, it is not advisable to keep the Ransomware inside the computer and give your money to the crooks. There is no guarantee they will send you the decryption key and if they vanish (which is a very common scenario) you can’t do anything to get your money back. That’s why we suggest you clean the system from the infection and give our free file-restoration instructions a try or research for some other legitimate alternatives.

How did this malware infect my computer?

As one of the newest and trickiest Ransomware infections, .492 Ransomware virus spreads through malicious web pages, emails, ads containing malicious software, and other sophisticated methods. There are several ways the user can protect their computer from attacks of this type and the first one is to be very careful when surfing the web. Avoid opening suspicious ads, links, or sites. Be sure to click on ads or articles that have embedded titles. Also, never open attachments from emails sent by strangers. Although the attachment may be called an invoice, CV, telephone bill, or something similar, this does not mean that the file is safe. On the other hand, fraudsters give such exact names to malicious attachments because their purpose is to make the user feel safe and not think about potential threats. Try to avoid opening files that your computer system recognizes as potentially dangerous and install the appropriate anti-spyware software on your computer.
