ADClick

This page aims to help you remove AdClick. These AdClick removal instructions work for Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer, as well as every version from Windows 10 to XP.

Before you jump straight to the removal guide, you should take a moment and have a read about what exactly is AdClick “Virus” so as to be able to better determine whether what you have is, indeed, AdClick and not something else. We want to make it clear that AdClick “Vius” is Not a Virus but labeled as such by many users who are not properly informed. Users use different search terms around the world such as “como remover AdClick” and “como remover AdClick da area de trabalho”

What is AdClick “Virus” and what does it do?

AdClick is an adware – a programming code designed by its creators to promote advertisements. Again do take note that AdClick is not considered as a virus by security experts. On one hand, unlike a virus, which is malicious and will cause harm and damage to the PC user whereas adware, on the other hand, is harmless and poses no direct threat to the user.

AdClick might be able to track your browsing history and patterns, favorites and bookmarks. From this, AdClick will generate likely false, but believable advertisements that is tailor-made for your liking. These advertisements may be in the form of banners, boxes or pop-up ads, sometimes even appearing as a separate window; displaying coupons and money-saving deals. When confronted with such ads be very cautious! As stated above, these ads are tailor-made for you and is mainly about things that you are interested in. But bear in mind, these advertisements could be fake and will not be able to deliver what they promise!

What should I do when confronted with the ads?

When you encounter advertisements – be it banners, pop-ups or boxes – look for tell-tale signs at the bottom of the ads such as “Powered by AdClick”, “Brought to you by AdClick” etc. In such cases then, do not, at any cost, click on the advertisements! If you click on the advertisement, you will realize that it is a ploy to fool you and the so-called deals that it advertises do not exist at all. The websites that you are being directed to will, instead, allow more adwares to be downloaded onto your windows 10, thus creating even more advertisements. Instead, you should quickly close the advertisement.

Is there any other signs to identify AdClick?

Other than creating advertisements, AdClick is also capable of converting simple text into a hyperlink. In such cases then, you will notice that in a chunk of text, there is a seemingly innocuous word that is underlined and in blue – denoting that it is a hyperlink.

If you do notice such symptoms, do not click on the hyperlinked word: Firstly, since the word in itself is innocuous and of no importance, there is no sense in clicking it as it will not contribute any relevant and valuable information to your research. Secondly, clicking on the word will direct you to suspicious or insecure webpages that will, once again, allow for more adwares to be loaded onto your PC. The best thing you can do is to ignore the hyperlinks and at your next convenient moment, start the process of uninstalling AdClick.

The programming code for AdClick is applicable for all browsers – Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer – so switching browsers will not eliminate the problem in most cases. You’ll need to delete it yourself.

How did AdClick get into my PC?

You probably contracted the Adware through some illegal and free downloads. More often than not, AdClick is being bundled up with the free programs. It will then be stealthily installed onto your PC when you are installing said programs. This usually happens when you choose the “Automatic Installation” option instead of “Custom Installation” to avoid hassle.

  • Hi, what you need to do is simply delete those lines from the file, then save it. If you don’t get permission to do that first run Notepad as an admin (search for notepad in windows search, right click on exe-> run as admin) and then open the Hosts file from the inside menu of Notepad: File->Open. Navigate manually to the file.

  • You may be hacked, or not. However all of the lines are, I believe, part of the infection. Delete them and tell us if that works 🙂

You can generally shut it down in safe mode.

  • Hi Rahadian, right click on the file and select properties. From there select security -> look for file ownership. It should be set to something else other than your account and that account will also have admin rights. Change the ownership to your own account and you should be able to bypass this block.

  • Hello, Pragalbha

If all of the steps have been successfully performed this should be a permanent solution to your problem.

  • All of these are part of the infection. Delete the lines from the file and save it, then exit. You can continue with the next step after that.

  • Mcafee is safe. All the rest are part of your problem. Delete the lines, save the file and continue with the removal guide.

  • Find the file itself, copy it on your desktop. Edit the copied file, delete these lines, then replace the old file with it.
This sometimes happens, what I just suggested should fix the permission problem. Adware sometimes do this.

  • Find the file, copy it on your desktop, remove the lines from it. Put the edited copy back in the original place and replace the old file.

  • I think literally all of the lines need to be remove. Delete them from the file and save it.
    Did that help?

  • Hi Abhay, in this case you need to first open notepad ad admin (seach for notepad, right click on exe->run as admin). When you open notepad like that use the Open File menu inside to open the file. Now you’ll have admin access.

Can you give us more detail? Make a screen shot or copy the IPs you are talking about.

    • Hi there Tech,
our team research these IPs and they turn out to be harmless. They are local that’s why they re-emerge in your file. If you have further difficulties please contact us, we’ll be glad to help.

  • Hi,

I ran that program and got the following with some funny stuff at the bottom…
    # Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
    #
    # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
    #
    # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
    # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
    # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
    # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
    # space.
    #
    # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
    # lines or following the machine name denoted by a ‘#’ symbol.
    #
    # For example:
    #
    # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
    # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

    # localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
    # 127.0.0.1 localhost
    # ::1 localhost

    127.0.0.1 down .baidu2016. com

    127.0.0.1 123.sogou. com

    127.0.0.1 www. czzsyzgm. com

    127.0.0.1 www. czzsyzxl. com

    127.0.0.1 union .baidu2019. com

    • You should only remove the bottom 5 IP addresses from the Hosts file (the ones after “#::localhost”). Delete them, save the changes and complete the rest of the guide.
