Browser hijackers often add startup items that enable them to run as soon as the computer is turned on. In order to stop the intrusive application from operating, you must open System Configuration (Type msconfig in the Start Menu search field and hit enter).

Next, select Startup and remove any startup items you believe are associated with the browser hijacker or its activity. The items linked to your system or legitimate software should not be unchecked. To save your changes, click OK when you’re done.

To do this, open Network Connections (you may look for it in the Start Menu search bar) and then follow these steps:

1. Select the network adapter you currently use and right-click on it. Then choose Properties from the menu that appears.
2. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (ICP/IP) in the new window, then click Properties.
3. As seen in photo No 3, click on Advanced after you’ve selected the option to Obtain DNS server address automatically.
4. You’ll need to remove any rogue DNS entries from the DNS tab in the new window. When you are done, click on the OK button.

After configuring the DNS settings, press the Windows and R keys and paste the following line into the Run window:

Search for Localhost in the Hosts file that appears on your computer after pressing Enter.
