This page aims to help you remove Allcry Ransomware for free. Our instructions also cover how any Allcry Ransomware file can be recovered.

If you’re computer has ended up getting infected by a virus called Allcry Ransomware, which is now demanding that you transfer money to some random criminals, you may be in need of some help. And we are here to offer it. Allcry Ransomware is what’s known as a ransomware virus, belonging to the file-encrypting type. What it does once it infects your system is it begins to scan it for certain targeted files types. As you can see, there’s quite a bunch of them. And once it has a full list of data, it begins to create encrypted copies of each and every piece of it, whilst also taking the time to carefully delete the originals. Thus, the victims are left with files they can’t access and a ransom note on their screen, telling them the only way to get that access back is by transferring a certain amount of money. Luckily, that’s not the only option you have. In fact, we can offer you a better alternative in the form of a detailed removal guide and removal tool. Just stick around and we will explain.

What makes Allcry Ransomware so dangerous and why paying the ransom isn’t a good idea

You may have never even heard of ransomware before you came face to face with one of its latest variants. But the truth is that it’s been around for almost as long as the internet has and in recent years it’s risen to become one of the most feared malware types. The reason for that is because of its devastating consequences. Oftentimes, the encryption these viruses place on files is so complex that there’s just no way to crack it. In fact, not even the hackers themselves can always offer you that option, despite the fact that they demand money for it. You would be amazed how often people who actually go through with the ransom payment don’t even receive a decryption key. And how many more receive one that doesn’t work as it should. That alone is a good enough reason not to engage in any further negotiations or contact with the criminals.

We get asked this a lot, so we are putting it here: Removing parasite manually may take hours and damage your system in the process. We recommend downloading SpyHunter to see if it can detect parasite files for you.

Press CTRL + SHIFT + ESC at the same time and go to the Processes Tab. Try to determine which processes are dangerous.

Note: If you are sure something is part of the infection – delete it, even if the scanner doesn’t flag it. No anti-virus program can detect all infections.

Hold the Start Key and R –  copy + paste the following and click OK:

notepad %windir%/system32/Drivers/etc/hosts

A new file will open. If you are hacked, there will be a bunch of other IPs connected to you at the bottom. Look at the image below:

hosts_opt (1)

If there are suspicious IPs below “Localhost” – write to us in the comments.

Type msconfig in the search field and hit enter. A window will pop-up:

Go in Startup —> Uncheck entries that have “Unknown” as Manufacturer.

  • Please note that ransomware may even include a fake Manufacturer name to its process. Make sure you check out every process here is legitimate.

How to Decrypt Allcry Ransomware files

We have a comprehensive (and daily updated) guide on how to decrypt your files. Check it out here.

If the guide doesn’t help, download the anti-virus program we recommended or try our free online virus scanner. Also, you can always ask us in the comments for help!

But besides that, sending them money will be the equivalent of straight up sponsoring them. Ransomware has become too lucrative a scheme and the only effective way to put an end to it would be if victims stopped paying. Let’s face it, Allcry Ransomware belongs to perhaps the most sophisticated malware group on the planet with so many new variants being released, security experts and legal authorities don’t stand a chance at eliminating them all. In addition, most hackers ask to be paid in Bitcoin, which diminishes the chances of them ever being caught and brought to justice. Bitcoin offers them the cover of anonymity and you can be sure that once you’re money is sent – it’s gone for good. Therefore, we would advise you to try alternative options of fending off Allcry Ransomware. One of them is located just below this article, on this very same page.

It’s a removal guide, which is very much necessary in order to delete the ransomware from your computer. After that you can try to restore your files from system backups (instructions on that are also provided in the guide). If this doesn’t work, there’s a list of decryptor tools on our website. These handy little pieces of programming may be what it takes to crack the code of Allcry Ransomware and free your data. So be sure to check out the list. And if that fails, there are always professionals out there specializing in ransomware encryptions, so you can try getting in touch with one of your choice.

As a preventative measure in case of future infections, we recommend that users make backups of their most valued files and keep them on a separate disk or drive, like a USB stick for example. That way you can be sure that even if you do get infected, your files will be safe and sound in a different location. In addition, preventing attacks from happening would also be smart. Therefore please don’t forget to practice basic safety online. This include staying off shady, illegal and potentially dangerous sites, as well as only sticking to reliable download sources. Don’t trust spam messages in any shape or form either and just use your common sense when interacting with any type of content on the internet.
