Arena Ransomware

One of the latest that we’ve been receiving reports about is called .Arena Virus File, and this particular ransomware virus has been encrypting the files of numerous users, denying them access to them and on top of that – demanding money for its return.

Arena Virus

.Arena Virus File

One of the world’s largest cyber threats is a virus category known as ransomware. This malware type has been around for some three decades now, but it wasn’t until recent years that it began to attract the public’s attention. The truth is that ransomware has been growing in numbers and developing at such a rapid rate, that by now millions of new variants are being discovered each year by security experts.  Now that you’ve landed on this page we will assume that you, too, have fallen victim to this cyber threat and are now seeking for a working solution that would help fix this situation. We can provide you with a removal guide that will show you how to remove .Arena Virus File from your system, as well as a separate set of instructions on how to recover your files. But before we move any further, we must warn you that ransomware is considered as harmful as it is, because of how complicated it is to deal with its consequences.

Arena Computer Virus

Arena Computer Virus don’t operate like most other malware, which is what sets it apart from the crowd. That’s also the key to its stealth and ability to work under the radar of most security programs.

What we’re talking about is the fact that this specific malware type uses encryption as a means of blocking certain file types and in this way preventing anyone from opening them. However, seeing as encryption is really just a means of protecting data, very few antivirus programs will actually see it as a threat. And for that very reason, even if you do have what you think is reliable antivirus software installed on your machine, it was incapable of signaling the ongoing attack and perhaps stopping it. So, with that in mind, it’s really quite difficult and close to impossible to detect ransomware while it’s still at work.

That leaves most of its victims having to deal with the terrible aftermath of having their PC invaded and their data – locked, perhaps even for good. Many turn to the ransom payment as the only possible solution and here’s why that’s not a really good idea. It’s not uncommon for the hackers to simply receive the payment and then never be heard of again, neglecting to send back the decryption key necessary to regain access to the encrypted data. It’s also equally likely to receive a decryption key that may not even work properly and will fail to do its job. For that reason, we would recommend exploring other options of dealing with .Arena Virus File and others like it. As pointed out, the removal guide below is at your service. And we actually highly recommend that you get rid of .Arena Virus File, because failing to do so could result in further damage to your system and the data stored on it.

After that you can proceed to check out the instructions on restoring your files from system backups. This is also tricky and we can’t promise that it will work in every case, because each case is unique. You can also try to use the decryptor tools available on the web. We have a list of those published on our website, which we update regularly. But, really, the best means of protecting yourself against viruses like .Arena Virus File is avoiding their known sources. These are primarily malvertisements (malicious online ads) and fake emails and other messages.

In the case of the former – those should be pretty easy to steer clear from. Just avoid any popups, banners, box messages and other forms of online advertising. This also includes notifications that appear to be coming from your system, but aren’t. As for the emails, this is still among the most successful methods of distributing malware online and users simply never seem to learn not to interact with suspicious messages. Do not open attached files or follow any links from emails you aren’t 100% sure are absolutely trustworthy. Lastly, try to regularly backup any important data and store the copies on a separate disk or drive, so as to be safe in case of a ransomware attack.
