Best Malware Removal Tools

The Differences Between Anti-Malware and Anti-Virus programs.

Most online users nowadays have a firm grasp of what an Anti-Virus program is, but unfortunately, the same majority is surprised to find out that there is another class of security software, called Anti-Malware. And these two groups serve different functions.

Here’s the story, in short:

Antivirus vs antimalware

  • Anti-malware programs: Think of them as a body’s immune system: they react when there’s trouble, but they don’t stop the trouble from getting in such as my quick converter.
  • Anti-virus programs: Think of them as a fortress – it’s hard to breach the walls, but if there’s a hole and the enemy gets in, they are useless… If the anti-virus doesn’t catch the problem, it may take weeks for the patch to come in and fix the hole.

We are a website dedicated to fighting malware, so we can give you a pretty good idea how to choose an anti-malware program. Here are the key things you may want to look for, from most important to least important:

  • will a complete system recovery/reinstall windows remove this .crypt problem, obviously ill lose my files but seems easier? thankyou

  • Hi there, .crypt files are not dangerous, merely annoying. You have to find out the virus file hidden inside the computer. I’d say the best approach is to simply format the PC, as it looks like you have the time to spare.

    • Hi hello13,
yes it is paid, but when you download it you can use the free scan feature. The scan will locate the infected files where you can delete them manually.

  • It says “One program we strongly recommend is SpyHunter. You can download it here:” Nothing thee to click on. I’m using Chrome.

  • Add blockers are not enough to deal with Adware/Malware programs installed onto your PC. Having an add-blocker would not remove the Adware/Malware from your PC. It might deal with some of the ads, but the unwanted program would still be there, hence, the whole point of this article.

  • First and foremost, disconnect the infected computer from the network to ensure that it does not spread to the other PC’s. When it comes to decrypting Osiris, unfortunately, there isn’t a decryptor tool for this Ransomware yet. If one gets released, we will make sure to add it to our How to Decrypt Ransomware article that you can find on this website. For now, the only thing you can do is use a file recovery tool called Recuva (or some other similar program) and try restoring your data with it. You can find instructions on how to use Recuva in the How to Decrypt Ransomware article. If this does not help, you will have to wait until a decryptor for Osiris gets released.

    • What about Quickbooks? Would we be able to use that program even if it is on the infected computer? This is our main server that holds all files that we work off of.

      • Ransomware viruses usually target files stored on your HDD. You can try using it but we advise to avoid that if you can go on without it.

      • Most Ransomware have a set list of file formats that they target. Usually, those formats include most types of images, text documents, etc. Generally, all personal files are endangered and not only Excel and Word documents.

    • Are you using an Administrator Account? What happens when you try to install it? Do you have any unwanted software on your PC, some undesirable programs might inhibit your ability to install new software? Also, you can try installing it while in Safe Mode.

      • i am the the only user on the p.c.
i have gandgrab on my system.
i cant even do system restore or create a cd / usb drive to make recovery iso to reformat drives

        • Can you boot into safe mode? Try doing that if you haven’t already and tell us if you were allowed into Safe Mode.

  • Hello Sir,

I would like to let you know about my problem, .gesd file damaged my drives and now they are asking for handsome money. bad thing i did that there was external hard drive attached at the time so it also damage my external drive which includes only my office data not more that 8 gb. now suggest me if i will download this malware software so will this solve my problem and return my files into original? so i can open and use it back.

    • Hello Asim, if you download SpyHunter you can use it to clean the present malware in your computer, unfortunately if cannot decrypt your files, there is no such existing software at this moment.
