Chunck App for Mac

Chunck App for Mac is a browser hijacking program that is designed to infiltrate your default browser and change its settings. Chunck App for Mac will typically change the regular homepage of your browser and also set a new search engine as the default one. Furthermore, as you may have already noticed, no matter what you do, you won’t be able to reverse these changes.

This is a common problem that users face, and also among the most annoying browser hijacker symptoms. But the reason that software of this type behaves like this is to be able to more effectively implement its advertising tactics.

What is Chunck App?

Chunck App is a browser hijacker, and as such, its main reason to exist is to generate revenue for its developers through online ads. Chunck App usually targets Mac computers, which is a relatively new trend. It was until recent years that browser hijackers started infecting Macs, whereas previously Mac users were typically always safe from nuisances of this type.

As far a revenue generation goes, this normally occurs thanks to Pay Per Click or Pay Per View remunerations schemes. Basically, it boils down to the number of clicks (or views) or certain ads being converted to profit for the developers of programs like Chunck App. That is why it may sometimes feel virtually impossible to escape all the many popups and links that appear to be throwing themselves under your cursor.

The ChunckApp App

The ChunckApp app is not malicious and is geared towards heavy-duty advertising. For this reason, the ChunckApp app is not considered to be a virus and cannot be compared to actual malware such as ransomware or Trojans. Nevertheless, that doesn’t mean that the ChunckApp app is entirely safe either.

In fact, we would recommend you avoid interacting with any of the ads or links generated by this or other browser hijackers. There is a risk of being redirected to unsafe web locations and falling victim to malvertisements, which can potentially have very serious consequences for you and your computer. It is best to simply get rid of the hijacker once and for all, thus ensuring the safety of your system. And to help you with this, we’ve designed a detailed and easy-to-follow removal guide below.

We get asked this a lot, so we are putting it here: Removing parasite manually may take hours and damage your system in the process. We recommend downloading SpyHunter to see if it can detect parasite files for you.

The first thing you need to do is to Quit Safari (if it is opened). If you have trouble closing it normally, you may need to Force Quit Safari:

You can choose the Apple menu and click on Force Quit.

Alternatively you can simultaneously press (the Command key situated next to the space bar), Option (the key right next to it) and Escape (the key located at the upper left corner of your keyboard).

If you have done it right a dialog box titled Force Quit Applications will open up.

In this new dialog window select Safari, then press the Force Quit button, then confirm with Force Quit again.

Close the dialog box/window.

To remove parasite on your own, you may have to meddle with system files and registries. If you were to do this, you need to be extremely careful, because you may damage your system.

If you want to avoid the risk, we recommend downloading SpyHunter
