The characteristics of the browser hijackers

Most browser hijackers usually promote themselves as some sort of useful extensions for your browser and that’s why the web users initially think that they would help them in some way and would make their web experience safer and better optimized. However, in the majority of the cases, the presence of such software on the system is likely to have some rather unpleasant effects. The reason is, the browser hijackers are online tools with primary goal that is not to make the users’ web experience better but to promote certain products, services, homepages, search engines, different offers and free applications and to accumulate pay-per-click revenue for their developers thanks to sponsored ads positioning. Such pieces of software are specifically programmed to stream various types of aggressive ads, pop-ups, banners and page-redirect links on the users’ screen during every browsing session and, most of the time, due to their aggressive online advertising activity, it is almost impossible to browse the web in peace. As far as the end-user is concerned, even if a hijacker does actually have some beneficial feature, this would hardly ever be enough to make up for all the negative and unpleasant effects that such an app would have on the browser. Applications like Cprmatix.com, for instance, could not only introduce a lot of unauthorized browser changes, interruptions and web surfing annoyance, but they might also indirectly expose the web users to certain security risks. What we have in mind here is the probability of clicking on some misleading pop-up offers or insecure web links, which might potentially land you some nasty virus or some other dangerous malware piece such as a Ransomware or a Trojan horse. That’s why, our advice for you here if you have a piece of software such as Cprmatix.com “Virus” on your system, is to consider having it removed at once. Generally, it is safer not to click on the randomly generated ads and sponsored web pages that the hijacker displays on the screen. And if you don’t want to see them every time you open your browser, maybe it would be a good idea to completely uninstall their source.

How to prevent your browser from getting hijacked?

The people who create applications like Cprmatix.com are usually software developers who want to earn money from pay-per-click campaigns by advertising third-party ads on your screen. That’s why, they oftentimes use some rather sketchy methods to install such software on as many computers as possible in order to boost their profits from clicks on sponsored ads. Oftentimes, they bundle the browser hijacker (or similar ad-generating components) inside the installers of some other applications, free software installation packages, torrents, free download links, software updates or browser add-ons. This way, when the users download the given bundle and run its setup, they also install the annoying ad-generating and page-redirecting application by default. Luckily, there is an easy way to prevent the unwanted installation – all you’d need to do is to click on the Advanced/Custom/Manual options to and simply opt out of any preselected checkmarks or added bonus components that might make changes to the browser or to the Internet settings.
