In this digital world, it is unthinkable to go about your day without your data. Work files, projects, favorite videos, those fancy pictures from the last party, music and movie collections – they all are something precious you have been picking up with years and you probably keep on your computer. It’s easy, you can always reach them and they are always there with you. Unless… you catch a Ransomware infection like Cry128 Virus. This type of malware has been exclusively created by a group of cyber criminals to block the access to your data. It does that by applying a secret file encryption and then blackmailing you for ransom. This is a very popular criminal scheme, which takes online users by storm and in fact, nowadays it makes Ransomware one the most problematic and dangerous online threats that can get on your PC. In the next lines, you are going to learn more about its typical traits, so that you can keep your files safe and eventually deal with the infection.

What to do if your files have been encrypted by Cry128 Virus?

The most probable reason that you landed on this page is because your files have been mysteriously encrypted by Cry128 Virus. This nasty cryptovirus is a really tricky threat to combat and in most of the cases, its harmful effects remain with the victim even after its removal. The hackers, who stand behind the Ransomware, however, are probably offering you a special decryption key, which they claim can quickly bring your files back to normal. They ask for a fat amount of money in exchange for sending it to you, though. But do they really have an actual intention to help you restore your files? Unfortunately, in most of the cases, no. Blocking the access to the users’ files and then asking them to pay for a decryption key is a pure online blackmail scheme. The cyber criminals usually use it for making quick money out of the misery of the unsuspecting online users. That’s why, if you have been attacked by a threat like Cry128 Virus, the worst thing you could do is to submit to the hackers’ demands by paying the ransom.

But what should you do then?

To be honest with you, there are not many things you could do to save you data from a Ransomware attack. This malware uses a very complex encryption to lock each and every one of your files, and very few people are able to bring their data back to normal without applying the special decryption key. Because of that, in general, it is almost impossible to think of a full recovery from a Ransomware infection like Cry128 Virus.

However, not all hope is lost. If you have been infected, there are a few options, which may help you minimize the data loss to a certain extent and here we will point them out. A helpful solution may be the removal guide that we have listed below. It will help you remove Cry128 Virus form your computer and eventually extract some of your files from the system backups. You can use the instructions on your own to find and manually delete all the traces of the Ransomware form your computer. Once you effectively eliminate it, you can also use some file backups from an external drive, USB or a cloud, to restore your valuable data. If you are not really confident in handling the malware on your own, another option is to ask a security professional for help, or use specialized software to get rid of the infection. In any case, don’t fall in the ransom payment trap because you are more likely to lose your money in vain and only make the criminals richer.

Some tips for protection:

To keep Ransomware away from your PC, it is best if you know where it usually lurks and avoid those web locations. Such threats are commonly distributed via Trojan horse infections, spam, torrents, illegal websites, fake ads and malicious attachments or misleading links. You may receive some infected transmitters in your email, or some other online message platform like Facebook, Skype, etc. For your safety, don’t click on things you don’t trust, and always stick to reputed online sources. And last but not least, always keep your most valuable data safe by backing it up regularly. This will help you a lot in case of a Ransomware attack and will prevent the huge data loss that this type of malware may cause.
