About the .Darus Virus

.Darus Virus

The .Darus Virus will show you this message, which contains instructions for paying the ransom.

With the never-ending creation of newer and more advanced Ransomware threats, keeping one’s files safe is steadily becoming more and more important. All users should adopt some form of data-protection habits in order to make sure that they do not get caught unawares by some sneaky Ransomware cryptovirus infection like Darus, TocueGusau or Madek. And by saying data-protection, we specifically mean methods and precautions that will keep your files safe, even if your computer still gets infected. This is an important distinction because the problem with Ransomware threats isn’t the removal of the virus itself, it is the recovery of the files that get locked by its encryption. You see, a Ransomware would typically not harm your computer in any serious way. Instead, it would make the files on it inaccessible to you and would them blackmail you for a ransom payment. Darus is an example of a malware program that does this – it silently enters the users’ computers, and it covertly initiates a date-encryption process that usually shows no symptoms, which is why, in most cases of a Ransomware attack, the users only learn about it after they are no longer able to access their files. At that point, the Ransomware itself would typically reveal its presence though a big and intimidating banner that gets automatically displayed on the user’s screen once the encryption is completed, or whenever the user tries to open any of the locked documents and other files. The banner would normally state that a payment is required from the victim if they are to regain the access to their sealed files. According to the hackers, if no payment is made, the files would not become accessible again. And if the fact that you are required to pay money to be able to access your own files isn’t bad enough, you should also consider the fact that even if you pay the hackers, there is absolutely nothing there that can guarantee that the locked files in your system would be released from the Ransomware encryption. Normally, the criminals promise to send a special access key that is unique for each attacked computer once the payment is made, but there are quite a few instances where no such key got sent to people who have actually carried out the payment. As you can see, if a Ransomware like Darus comes to you, your options are quite limited.

Is it difficult to recover an encrypted .Darus file ?

.Darus File

.Darus Virus Ransomware is from the STOP/ DJVU family, it will encrypt your files with .Darus extension.

Though there is no universal alternative out there, we have done our best to offer our readers who have fallen victims to Darus some options. First, you’d have to remove the infection – our guide below will help you with that. Then, you can try out some of the alternative recovery options that we have posted in the second part of the guide – they may not always work due to the complexity of the encryption used by the Ransomware threats but it is still advisable to try them out as they won’t cost you anything (in contrast to the ransom payment option).
