A lot of users who face a browser hijacker app on Android their devices jump to the conclusion that their smartphone or tablet has been infected by some nasty piece of malware like a Trojan Horse, a Rootkit or a Ransomware. However, browser hijackers are not like that – they wouldn’t typically try to harm your device and will mostly simply generate different ads, banners and pop-ups on your display whenever you are connected to the Internet. It is also possible that a hijacker might put a new search engine tool or a new homepage on your browser (Chrome, Firefox, the default browser or any other browsing app you might have) and also cause page redirects to different sites and pages in order to boost their view count. However, despite all that, if you have a hijacker on your device, there’s no reason to get panicked as it is actually relatively easy to deal with such an annoying piece of software and here we will show you how you can do that.
Recently, a lot of complaints have been made by a big number of users about the so-called Datsadstrack. This is yet another browser hijacker software component that has been recently released and that seems to possess a number of rather unpleasant abilities which is the reason why it falls under the hijacker category. Just like the other apps of its type, it can display obstructive banners, pop-ups, blinking boxes and page redirects on the screen of the user’s Android smartphone which, in turn, makes using the device rather difficult and frustrating. One thing to be noted here is that apps like Datsadstrack do not usually come on their own. In most instances, they are added to other apps as built-in elements which is why many users do not even realize that they have had a hijacker installed on their device (at least not initially). Of course, after the ads-generation and the browser changes start to occur, the user realizes that there’s some unwanted piece of software inside their smartphone or tablet that needs to be removed.
If you are in a similar situation and want to uninstall and remove the pesky Datsadstrack, be sure to use the guide below as it will help you eliminate the unwanted app that’s causing all the irritation. Also, in order to avoid landing such apps in the future, be sure to only download new software from source that are trusted and reliable and also, as an extra precaution, look up any new apps that you might want to get before actually downloading them.
Datsadstrack “Virus” Removal
Whether you use the default “Internet” App for browsing or a different browser like Chrome you need to go to:
Locate the Browser/App in question and tap on it.
Now the method is effectively the same for users using both “Internet” and Chrome/Other Browsers, yet for more clarity we have provided instructions for both:
For “Internet” Browser Users:
Tap the Force Stop button.
Now tap the Clear Data and Clear Cache Buttons.
For Google Chrome Users:
Click on Force Stop.
Then click on Clear Data and Clear Cache.
Restart your Browser. It might be a good idea to Reboot your Android device, just in case.
If you are still seeing Ads in your browser, it is likely they are generated by the websites you visit and there is nothing you can do about it.
However, if you are seeing Adverts outside of your internet browser, then one of your installed Apps contains the problematic Adware. In this case you need to take a look at this guide.
