Next, once you are in Safe Mode, open the Windows Task Manager (CTRL + SHIFT + ESC) and tap at the Processes Tab. From the list, try to manually search for malicious processes (seek for the ones that eat a lot of Memory and CPU power without any particular reason).  

Right click on every process that you belive could be dangerous and select Open File Location. Then scan the files in that file location with the  free online virus scanner on this page:

Now, let’s head to the Control Panel and check it for questionable entries that could be related to Disk Fixer.

For that, press the Start Key and R keys from your keyboard. This will open a Run dialog. Type appwiz.cpl in the empty text box and press OK to execture the command.

Now, let’s move to System Configuration and stop any startup entries that might be related to Disk Fixer. To do that, type msconfig in the search field and hit enter. This will open the following window:

 

Go to the Startup tab and remove the checkmark before the entries that seem to be linked to Disk Fixer, have “Unknown” Manufacturer or look suspicious.

Attention! In case you have a reason to believe that your computer has been compromized by a bigger threat (like ransomware) or some other malware, do the following check:

Press toghether the Start button and R from your keyboard and copy the following in the text filed of the Run dialog that opens:  

notepad %windir%/system32/Drivers/etc/hosts

Click Ok and this will display the Hosts file of your computer. In case that your system has been hacked, you will detect multiple IPs connected to you as shown on the image:

 

Any suspicious IPs below  the”Localhost” section could be an indicator. If this is your situation, please write to us in the comments below so we can advise you on your next actions.

 

Finally, open the Registry Editor of your computer (type Regedit in the windows search field and press Enter). 

Then, open the Find dialog (CTRL+F) and in the empty text field type the name of the virus. If you detect any results, right-click on them and delete them.

If nothign shows up in the search results, navigate to these directories manually and delete/uninstall them:

• HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Directory with a questionable name. 
  HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run/Directory with a questionable name. 
  HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Internet Explorer/Main/Directory with a questionable name.
