If you are struggling with a potentially unwanted program called Error Code 0x8007042c that has recently gotten inside your PC system, here, you can find some useful and important information about the irritating piece of software. Normally, people who have gotten Error Code 0x8007042c installed onto their computers report that the intrusive software piece has taken over their browser programs (IE, Edge, Chrome, Firefox, etc.) and has made different changes to them without being given a permission to do so. The most notable of those changes are replacement of the previous search engine and starting page of the affected browser. Another particularly unpleasant trait of the program in question seems to be its tendency to redirect the user to other websites/web-pages some of which might have obscure and shady contents. All of this is, without a doubt, quite unpleasant and frustrating but what’s even worse – the browser modifications and the potential page redirects could also contribute to the exposing of your PC to a variety of security hazards and dangers. This sort of software behavior is normally associated with programs of the Browser Hijacker category – that’s what Error Code 0x8007042c actually is. Users who come to the this page can learn more about Browser Hijackers such as this one as well as what steps they’d need to undertake so as to uninstall the undesirable application and make sure it does not come back to bother them ever again.

Concerning Browser Hijackers

One thing you want to know about Error Code 0x8007042c and Hijackers as a whole is that they aren’t real PC viruses. Generally, a Browser Hijacker wouldn’t be able to cause any damage to your PC or files on its own. After all, this isn’t really the purpose of those programs. Think of Hijackers as some sort of online marketing/advertising tools that utilize a number of methods which enable them to gain income for their creators. The issue with that is the fact that the employed revenue-earning techniques can oftentimes make the user’s browsing experience a lot worse even though Hijackers are normally promoted as programs that would actually improve the user’s browser. The truth is that despite the fact Error Code 0x8007042c is very different from malware types like Trojan Horses, Spyware or Ransomware, it can still be quite an unpleasant piece of software to have on your PC and it might also make your system less protected and more vulnerable. For that reason, removing such an application from your machine is the advisable thing to do in such a situation. We strongly suggest that you visit our removal guide for the Browser Hijacker at the bottom of this article if you indeed have had this irritating piece of software installed on your PC.

How can a Hijacker be dangerous?

As was said above, on its own, a program that belongs to the Hijacker category wouldn’t normally be able to do much harm to your machine. However, if you aren’t careful, you might end up exposing your system to real malware and virus threats. You must make sure that you avoid any interaction with anything that gets displayed/generated by the unwanted piece of software. Avoid using the new search engine and try not to click on anything from the pages that you might get redirected to. Sometimes a Hijacker might also create banners and ads within your browser – keep away from them as well if you don’t want to put your machine’s security at risk.

Distribution methods and prevention

Some users might end up willingly installing a Hijacker on their computers due to thinking that it is actually some form of helpful software piece. However, most of the time, the creators of this sort of potentially unwanted programs seek other ways to ensure that their products reach as many computers as possible. To achieve that, Hijacker developers employ misleading advertising techniques and various forms of Internet spam. Normally, the majority of users who land Error Code 0x8007042c or other similar applications are the ones who tend to visit unreliable and shady web addresses or that use untrusted download sources. Make sure that you are careful with what sites you visit when you are browsing the Internet and also be careful not to open any messages or e-mails which might actually be spam. One other popular way of installing Hijackers on more PC’s is the so-called software bundles where the unwanted application gets added as an optional install to some other program. The way to avoid landing a Hijacker through this method is to always take a careful look at the setup menus of new programs. Anything added as an optional install that might seem suspicious ought to be removed and left out. Be sure to do that the next time you are about to install some new piece of software, especially if it is a free one in order to avoid getting a Hijacker on your PC system.
