How can Exerciers.mobi “Virus” come to your computer?
There are many ways in which a browser hijacker might land on your computer. The curious thing is that it cannot be blamed for “infecting” the machine because, in most of the cases, the users are the ones who download and install such software on their own (albeit, without knowing it). Usually, this happens when they run sketchy software installers, torrents, different free download links and application bundles which offer news application, some free browser components, toolbars or free features in their setup package. That’s why, our advice is to always be selective about the sources of your software and to pay special attention to every software setup which promotes some additional components along with the main application for installation.
The best way to keep the numerous promotion-oriented applications such as Exerciers.mobi and similar hijacker-based software away from your PC is to develop some proper browsing and software installation habits when installing new programs on your machine. For that, one needs to always read the EULA and all the small text agreements and pre-selected check-marks before proceeding with the installation. Also, it is highly recommended to use the Advanced/Custom/Manual setup alternatives whenever they are available and to avoid going for the Quick/Automatic installation. The reason is, the “quick” installation options usually do not give access to the detailed customization menu where different potentially unwanted applications might be bundled. The Advanced options, however, can provide you with expanded control and can let you manually select the components and applications you want and leave out the “recommended” or “additional” software that you you might not wish to get installed on your PC.
What are the browser hijackers developed for?
If you have Exerciers.mobi “Virus” on your system, you’re most probably wondering why on earth would someone create such an irritating app. The hijacker can be quite annoying – it may not only impose its unwanted browser modifications but may also constantly redirect the users’ searches and generate a big number of aggressive ads all over the screen. So, why would somebody seek to disturb users’ web browsing in such an intrusive way? Well, the reason is advertising. This type of software is entirely promotion-oriented and all the activities and modifications it initiates are done with the purpose of serving the online marketing industry. Exerciers.mobi “Virus” and other applications of this type are basically created to redirect users and to expose them to certain sponsored web locations which promote specific products, services or software.
As a whole, this cannot be seen as something illegal or harmful. After all, a piece of software from the hijacker’s type is very unlikely to corrupt your system like a Trojan horse would or attempt to encrypt your data like a Ransomware might. That’s why, pretty much no browser hijacker has ever been classified as an actual virus. However, due to its redirecting and ad-generating service, such software could be considered as potentially unwanted. In the Removal Guide below, you can find more details about the uninstallation process, as well as a professional malware removal tool for automatic assistance.
