Forstalk

Forstalk is an intrusive Android application that displays obtrusive pop-ups and full-screen ads on your smartphone or tablet. Users who have Forstalk may also experience page-redirects to random sites and may have their telemetry data collected and utilized for targeted advertising.

Forstalk
The longer the Forstalk virus remains on your device, the greater the likelihood that malware may compromise it.

If you are on this page, you’ve undoubtedly seen one or more of the aforementioned signs of Forstalk, and now you are most probably looking for a solution to remove this program. The good news is that Forstalk cannot harm your Android device directly because it is not a virus, a Ransomware, a Trojan or some other malware. The bad news is that the longer this software remains on your smartphone or tablet, the greater the likelihood that malware or any other dangerous internet material may compromise it.

The Forstalk virus

In the cybersecurity circles, applications such as the Forstalk virus are collectively called browser hijackers. The Forstalk virus aim is to promote specific sites, services, products or software, by aggressively posting obtrusive adverts about them on the screen of the affected device or through the main web browser.

The apparent problem here is that the aggressively displayed commercials are annoying. What is still a greater concern, though, is that the promotional materials that are displayed  might sometimes be misleading and even dangerous.

Typically, trusted and reputable sites don’t rely on browser-hijackers like Forstalk and their aggressive advertising to drag more traffic or attract customers to their services or goods. However, more often than not, weak sites with sketchy content often use such promotional software to achieve popularity and reach more people. Thus, it is highly recommended that you try to limit your interaction with any of the adverts or sites you’re exposed to by the browser hijacker. Also, should you wish to remove Forstalk completely, below you will find a detailed guide that can rid you of the intrusive software and its ads and redirects quickly and effectively.

Whether you use the default “Internet” App for browsing or a different browser like Chrome you need to go to:
Settings/More/Application Manager/All

Locate the Browser/App in question and tap on it.

Now the method is effectively the same for users using both “Internet” and Chrome/Other Browsers, yet for more clarity we have provided instructions for both:

For “Internet” Browser Users:

Tap the Force Stop button.

Now tap the Clear Data and Clear Cache Buttons.

For Google Chrome Users:

Click on  Force Stop.

Then click on Clear Data and Clear Cache.

Restart your Browser. It might be a good idea to Reboot your Android device, just in case.

  • Important!

If you are still seeing Ads in your browser, it is likely they are generated by the websites you visit and there is nothing you can do about it.

However, if you are seeing Adverts outside of your internet browser, then one of your installed Apps contains the problematic Adware. In this case you need to take a look at this guide.
