Funtoday Virus

Funtoday

Funtoday is an intrusive add-on for popular browsers like Firefox and Chrome that attaches itself to the computer’s main browser without user permission and turns it into an ad-displaying platform. In most cases, file-bundling is the method used to get Funtoday onto more computers.

Funtoday

The Funtoday virus Funtoday may behave rather aggressively when it comes to its ads and its page redirects

If you have recently detected an app called Funtoday and are concerned about your PC’s safety, make sure to read the next lines. Funtoday is not some nasty virus or a dangerous Trojan or ransomware-based infection. Although Funtoday may behave rather aggressively when it comes to its ads and its page redirects, the main purpose isn’t to harm your computer or files.

Security experts classify this piece of software as a browser hijacker. If you don’t know what exactly a browser hijacker is, on this page, we will do our best to briefly explain to you what the specifics of this type of software are and what to expect from it. In case that you are looking for an effective method that can help you remove Funtoday from your Chrome, Firefox or other browser and uninstall the new homepage or search engine that it has likely added to it, know that we are here to help. Our “How to remove” team has prepared a detailed removal guide to help you remove the pesky app as well as a trusted removal tool for automatic assistance. Before you scroll down, however, let us tell you what exactly you are dealing with.

Funtoday is an ad-supported application and its main function is aimed at displaying pay-per-click ads and sponsored page redirects on your screen. Initially, the application looks like a normal browser add-on which promises to provide you with some free functionality. However, the moment it gets installed in the system, this browser hijacker makes some changes to your main browser and imposes new search engine and/ or homepage settings.

Then before you know it, your Chrome, Firefox, Explorer (or any other browser that you might be using) may start flooding your screen with various pop-ups, banners, blinking boxes, ads and page-redirect links. As a result, you may not be able to use your browser normally and may constantly get interrupted by the sponsored promotional messages generated by the browser hijacker. Luckily, there is a way to quickly remove the unwanted ads and uninstall the nagging software once and for all. In the instructions below, we have listed all the steps that you need to take to effectively eliminate Funtoday.

How can Funtoday hijack your browser?

Funtoday is not some cunning malware infection. That’s why it cannot infect you in a stealthy way like a Trojan or ransomware virus. However, there are still many other methods that can help such a nagging piece of software become part of your system.

One of the most common distribution methods of browser hijackers is software bundling. This method allows the developers of such apps like Funtoday and Poshukach to group and bundle different additional applications in one installer and to spread them as one. That’s why it is very possible for Funtoday to have been downloaded and installed into your system along with free third-party applications that you downloaded from unreliable websites, torrent platforms, shareware pages, spam messages and ads.

It can also come attached to pirated software and application updates or through spam or junk email attachments. That’s why, to keep your PC clean, you should always closely monitor the setup process of every new application that you install and specifically pay attention to any Advanced/ Custom options that allow another application to make changes to your browser and to your system.
