Ransomware is something not really nice. In fact, this term stands for a very specific type of malware that cyber criminals use in a sophisticated blackmail scheme. They basically program the Ransomware to encrypt the users’ files and keep them hostage until a ransom is paid for their decryption. In the text that follows, we are going to discuss one freshly discovered representative of this malicious group, named Godra. If you landed on this page because your files have been encrypted by Godra Ransomware, we hope that the removal guide below will help you recover from the harmful consequences. The most visible sign of an infection that has already taken place is the presence of a ransom message somewhere on your monitor or inside the folders of the affected files. Such ransom messages usually contain a threatening text, prompting you to perform a ransom payment in the form of Bitcoins in exchange for a decryption key. This is a common illegal money-making scheme, which uses your fear and frustration in order to generate profits for its criminal creators. If you don’t want to sponsor the hackers, however, we would like to welcome you to our “How to remove” page. Here, we offer free tips and methods, which are designed to help the Ransomware victims deal with threats like Godra without paying ransom for their files. In the next lines, you can read more about the alternatives you have as well as the exact steps, which can help you remove the infection from your PC.

Godra Ransomware Virus

Details about Godra Ransomware

Godra is a new addition to the notorious Ransomware family. This threat acts as a cryptovirus, which means it uses a very complex encryption algorithm in order to make all the data, which could be found inside the computer, unreadable. By applying the encryption, the malware basically makes all files unrecognizable by the system. In some cases, it even changes their file extensions to ensure that no other software can open or use them. When this malicious process is completed, a ransom message is displayed on the victim’s screen, asking them to pay for a decryption solution that can release the files form the encryption. Unfortunately, when the ransom message has appeared, it is too late for any prevention or protection actions because Godra has already completed its task. The hackers, who control the infection, usually insist on a quick ransom payment, otherwise, they may threaten to double the ransom amount or delete the decryption key for your files if you don’t act by the given deadline.

Another nasty thing about this Ransomware is the fact that you cannot catch and stop on time because the threat may not get detected by the antivirus software and you may have absolutely no clue about the malicious encryption process until it is complete. The infection also happens in a very stealthy way, usually thanks to some advanced exploit kit, a Trojan horse, some fake ads and notifications, spam email messages, malicious attachments and other harmless-looking transmitters.

Can you remove Godra and go around the ransom payment?

Having Ransomware like Godra on your PC is definitely not a good thing. The longer you keep it there, the more problems it may cause and you will not be able to use your computer safely. If you, for example, try to connect another device to the infected machine, (a USB, external drive, mobile device, etc.) Godra may apply its encryption to all the data, found on that device as well. Trying to access your cloud storage or Google drive may be exposed to the same risk, not to mention that every file you download or create in the system will most probably also become encrypted and you won’t be able to store and access any data unless you remove the Ransomware. For this reason, our “How to remove” team would highly advise you to follow the steps of the guide below and immediately get rid of Godra. Alternatively, a quicker and safer option is to scan your PC with the professional Godra removal tool and have the malware removed automatically.

When the infection is completely gone, only then is it safe to connect your devices and begin with your file restoration attempts. It is best if you have backup copies, however, in case you don’t have an external source of your data, you can give a try to the file-restoration instructions we have described below. Unfortunately, a complete recovery may not be possible, due to the complexity of the file encryption algorithm. However, paying the ransom does not guarantee you a better restoration of the affected data either. It is much likely for the criminals to disappear with the money and never send you a decryption key.
