This page aims to help you remove GoGameGo. These GoGameGo “Virus” removal instructions work for Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer, as well as every version of Windows.

Adware is getting more and more well-spread nowadays. Its manifestation, the GoGameGo “Virus”, might affect all the popular browsers – Explorer, Opera, Chrome and Firefox, with its annoying popping up banner, box, tab or other forms of ads. In fact, this is what all Adware-based products do and we will see why below.

About Adware

Adware comprises all ad-generating programs that could affect all the existing browsers. Usually no Adware version is really dangerous, as these programs are not developed with the purpose of doing something evil to your system, like encrypting files, causing crashes, copying and using credentials, like viruses typically do. However, Adware-type products are all considered potentially unwanted programs because they can be too intrusive and far too disturbing with the great number of ads in all possible forms (pop-ups, pop-unders, banners, boxes, tabs) that they usually display. Still, we want to stress on the fact that Adware is not a type of virus like Ransomware is, for example. Normally, the GoGameGo “Virus” possesses all the typical traits of any other Adware-like program. It can only affect your browsers and make them display a variety of ads. It does that, because its developers get paid for programming it to show many banners and pop-ups. This is the so-called pay per click practice. The more ads are shown and possibly clicked on, the more money programmers get from the vendors, whose services and products are being promoted. This typical way of functioning leads us to the normal distribution way as well. Adware in general and the GoGameGo “Virus” in our case usually get spread together with other programs in bundles. This is an efficient distribution method, as users download and install such bundles for the other free software inside and they get the Adware as a rather unpleasant bonus. Bundling is a legitimate practice, though. As you can see, advertisements are all around us nowadays and this is how they act online.

Could GoGameGo be the cause of any negative consequences?

There is always the possibility that the GoGameGo “Virus” may indirectly lead to some unpleasant experience. For example, the bundles in which it is distributed around may contain dangerous software. Also, some users believe that the produced ads, when clicked on, may lead them to potentially hazardous pages. Another possible negative effect on your PC is the potential slowdown you could experience if the production of the ads becomes too active. Your PC might be slowed down thanks to the amount of resources that the ad generation requires. Some users may find some of GoGameGo’s traits unclear and confusing. For instance, it is normally able to determine what kind of ads you may be interested in and show only them on your screen. This happens thanks to its ability to habitually review your surfing history. However, this is the only questionable feature that the GoGameGo “Virus” might have. Fortunately, the GoGameGo “Virus” can be removed and the process is not too complex. You can use out special guide below to effectively deal with this issue.

Some general advice on prevention

The GoGameGo “Virus” is not the most dangerous cyber threat you will experience, however, there are some general prevention instructions that will save you from it, all the other versions of ad-displaying software and even more hazardous software like Ransomware. In order to stay safe, you should surf in a smart way, and this means to:

  • Avoid downloading any program or bundle that you really do not need. We understand that some programs might appear fascinating, but they may hide serious threats inside them. Install and download only necessary software from trusted websites.
  • Turn on, update and use your anti-virus tool. These programs will need constant updates, as there are different threats appearing every single day and they have to renew their data base to include the new online dangers.
  • Ultimately understand the process of installing software. It does matter and in fact sets the way in which the newly-integrated programs will behave. Only use the Custom installation option, as in this case you get to choose all the details about a certain program or a bundle and their effects on your PC.
  • Stay away from the pop-ups and banners you see on various websites. Opening one may cause the appearance of many others and could even lead to the infection of your machine with ad-causing programs.
