This page aims to help you remove Halloware Ransomware for free. Our instructions also cover how any (Lucifer) file can be recovered.

Halloware is a recently detected Ransomware infection, which has been programmed to infiltrate the users’ computers, encrypt the files, found there and keep them hostage until a ransom is paid. If the victim wants to restore their data, they must obey the hackers’ demands and pay a fat amount of money in a cryptocurrency in order to receive a decryption key. The basic principle the hackers’ rely on is fear and frustration. They usually press the victims with short deadlines and threaten that the encrypted data will be kept locked forever if they don’t fulfill the ransom instructions. Unfortunately, many people, who get attacked by this Ransomware get panicked and in a desperate attempt to save their valuable data, they agree to the hackers’ conditions. However, this is exactly what one should not do, if malware like Halloware breaks into the system.

If there are suspicious IPs below “Localhost” – write to us in the comments.

How Ransomware operates

Compared to other forms of malware, Ransomware threats such as Halloware operate in a unique way. There are a number of features that make these infections so problematic and harmful. First of all, Ransomware can infect you without any symptoms. One wrong click on a well-camouflaged malicious transmitter such as spam message, ad, misleading link, harmful email attachment or infected installer can land you Halloware in no time. Secondly, most of the convenient antivirus tools that web users use may fail to detect the threat on time. Since the encryption process does not corrupt or delete anything in the system, there is nothing that could trigger the virus definitions of the security program. The malware only converts the files into unreadable copies, without causing actual harm, therefore the antivirus may let it complete its malicious file-encryption absolutely uninterrupted. In most of the cases, the victims come to know about the infection when a ransom note gets displayed on their screen.

The ransom notification

When the damage is done and all the targeted files are encrypted, the Ransomware discloses itself and the blackmail scheme begins. A scary ransom notification provides the victim with instructions on how to purchase a decryption key if they want to regain access to their data. Various threatening scenarios may be employed by the hackers in order to receive the ransom payment faster. However, panic is your worst adviser in such a situation. Paying the money is in no way a guarantee that the blackmail is finished. The hackers may increase the ransom or simply disappear with the money without sending you any decryption solution in return. A much smarter approach to the situation is to seek for alternatives. Indeed, the file encryption may not be reversible without a decryption key, but it won’t hurt if you try to recover some of your files via backups or some free decryption tools that might be available on the web. We have also listed some recovery tips in the instructions below. However, before you proceed to your data-restoration attempts, it is of utmost importance to remove the Ransomware from your system. Halloware is a very nasty threat that may encrypt everything you manage to recover if you don’t remove it completely from your system. That’s why we strongly advise you to first try our guide and only then consider opting for something else. Make sure you carefully follow the instructions and in case of doubt, scan your PC with the professional Halloware removal tool.
