hbpix “Virus” Android Removal (Feb. 2018 Update)

Browser hijackers have been a known nuisance for desktop computer users for years now, but lately they’ve started flooding our portable devices, too. Whether you’re using your smartphone, tablet, phablet or hybrid laptop to browse the web, any of those can fall victim to a browser hijacking program called hbpix “Virus”. And just like with the desktop versions, it will likely change the homepage and/or search engine of your Chrome or Firefox browser and redirect you to various sponsored pages. What to do? Luckily, we can help you with this issue and provide you with a detailed removal guide – just below this article. Read on to find out more.

Is hbpix “Virus” harmful to my device?

First of all, let’s make the distinction between browser hijackers like hbpix “Virus” and viruses, such as Trojans or ransomware. The latter two are certainly dangerous and harmful not just to your device, but to you as well. As for browser hijackers, they are generally considered to be harmless. Their presence can result in some sluggishness due to the background processes that they run and consumption of RAM and CPU. But besides that they can most definitely not be compared to viruses.

So, what does hbpix “Virus” want, you may ask? The purpose of any browser hijacker is to expose users to as many popups, banners and other forms of online advertising as possible. This generates revenue for the hijacker developers and ensures that the advertised products and services gain a wider audience. However, that being all fine and dandy, software of this type usually offers no functionality for the average user. And therefore, there’s really no reason to have to put up with the annoying ads, reduced memory on your smartphone or tablet and constant age redirects. Not to mention that those can potentially lead you to insecure web locations and from there you could even run into real malware.

Thus, the optimal course of action would be to simply get rid of hbpix “Virus” with the help of the below removal guide. And from now on you can take better care to not install browser hijackers on your Android device again. For this purpose, it’s best to avoid third party application sources, as browser hijackers usually come integrated with other apps. Stick to the Google Play Store and try to look up the app you’re interested in online first. A little bit of research and reading user reviews can tell you whether there’s an ad-generating component in the said app.

Now tap the Clear Data and Clear Cache Buttons.

For Google Chrome Users:

Click on  Force Stop.

Then click on Clear Data and Clear Cache.

Restart your Browser. It might be a good idea to Reboot your Android device, just in case.

  • Important!

If you are still seeing Ads in your browser, it is likely they are generated by the websites you visit and there is nothing you can do about it.

However, if you are seeing Adverts outside of your internet browser, then one of your installed Apps contains the problematic Adware. In this case you need to take a look at this guide.
