This page aims to help you remove Hippig “Virus”. Our removal instructions work for Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer, as well as every version of Windows.

If you have had enough of the constant page redirects, ads, pop-ups, banners and new tabs that frequently interrupt your browsing, stay on this page because here we are going to help you solve this issue once and for all! The most probable source of the above-described disturbance is a program called Hippig “Virus”. This program is one of the many browser hijackers that can invade your Chrome, Firefox or Explorer and in the next lines, we are going to show you how to safely deal with it and remove all of its nagging ads and possible browser modifications. If you want to restore your previous browser’s homepage, get back your favorite search engine and remove the strange toolbar that has mysteriously been installed on your browser’s menu, the removal guide below is all you need. It contains detailed instructions on how to uninstall Hippig “Virus” and get everything back to normal. Before you go straight to the steps, though, let us tell you a bit more about the danger level of the browser hijackers and their typical sources so you can keep them away next time and avoid the disturbance they may cause in the future.

What is a browser hijacker and what issues may it cause?

A browser hijacker is usually a piece of software, which is used to aggressively advertise certain products or services on the users’ screen by initiating frequent browsing redirects to the pages of the advertised items and displaying a huge number of popping ads, banners, and promotional links. This is exactly what Hippig “Virus” is doing to your browser. The browser hijacker usually incorporates a special ad-generating script within the affected browser which may replace the users’ homepage, install a new toolbar or a search engine and ensure that every time the browser is opened, it displays a stream of popping ads. This may often result in interruptions of the normal web activity, irritation, disturbance and general unresponsiveness of the hijacked browser. For this reason, the users, who face such software are usually not happy to keep it and prefer to uninstall it in order to remove all of its changes.

The advertisers, on the other hand, can surely benefit from such aggressive exposure of their products, moreover, many times they actually pay for such service with the idea to bring traffic to their sites and eventually make more sales. The developers of hijackers can also make good money by distributing such software and using it to display sponsored ads for profits. What is more, nowadays, many download websites, programmers and online based businesses, who provide free software, often use the so-called “software bundles” or “download clients” to distribute programs like Hippig “Virus” along with their software and this way use it to monetize the services they provide for free. That’s why, if you often download and install free applications on your PC, especially from torrents, open source platforms, freeware or shareware sites, email offers or direct download links from the web, bear in mind that you may be offered to install some additional piece of software like Hippig “Virus”, a toolbar, or some other ad-generating script that may expose you to different advertisements.

Is the browser hijacker legal?

Despite the fact that a lot of users may get irritated by the intrusive activity of Hippig “Virus”, according to the law, such software is perfectly legal. The browser hijacker does not represent a major risk to your computer and cannot cause serious harm to your system or your files. Therefore, the security experts don’t consider it as malicious as the viruses, the Trojan horses or the recently popular Ransomware infections. However, keeping Hippig “Virus” on your machine may still indirectly expose you to some sketchy content, redirect you to unknown web locations and make you interact with ads and sites that may be potential transmitters of infections. For that reason, we would advise you to uninstall this software and permanently remove its popping advertising materials from your screen.

How to keep your system safe from Hippig “Virus” and other similar software?

Whether you want to keep your system safe from serious malware like viruses, Ransomware, or Trojan horse infection, or you simply want to avoid some harmless but annoying applications like Hippig “Virus”, there are some essential prevention tips that you should apply. First and foremost, we advise you to invest in reputed antivirus software and set it to run regular system scans. Also, avoid downloading and installing software from developers you don’t recognize and always customize every new setup that you are about to run. This can prevent any additional software from becoming part of your system through a bundle and can eliminate the need to uninstall it later. Another general safety rule is not to click on every spam or free download offer that pops on your screen as you never know what they may hide inside.
