In case that you have noticed some new homepage, a new search engine or a new toolbar on your browser which you do not remember installing or every attempt to browse the web begins with sudden page-redirects and a shower of ads all over your screen, then, most probably, your default browser has been invaded by a browser hijacker like Holbrooked.top. And you are not the only one. Many users have recently reported that their Chrome, Firefox, IE (and other popular browsers) have been behaving strangely ever since the moment this application got installed on their PC. Holbrooked.top tends to change the users’ browsing settings by imposing some new components, which initiate random page-redirects and aggressive ads generation on their screen. On this page, we are going to explain why these changes appear, what their purpose is and, of course, how to remove them. What is more, below, our team has prepared a detailed Removal Guide, which can help even a non-expert to uninstall the annoying browser hijacking software and get rid of its irritating changes quickly and easily.
What you should know before you decide how to deal with Holbrooked.top?
Normally, browser hijacking pieces of software affect your PC in the way described above. They alter the settings of your default browser (Chrome, Firefox, IE – literally every browsing app can get affected) by imposing some new homepages, toolbars or search engine components without actually having been authorized to do so. Such applications are also typically responsible for the generation of big numbers of ads, pop-ups, banners and commercial messages as well as for the random redirection to different promotional web pages, sales platforms and similar web locations. Holbrooked.top is an application which is specialized in that and from the moment it gets installed on your system, it immediately imposes its settings to the default browser without asking for permission. This application tries to generate targeted ads on your screen by keeping track of your recent search queries, bookmarks, browsing history, likes and shares so as to be able to later redirect you to sponsored pages which match your supposed interests and preferences.

Does Holbrooked.top pose any danger?
Even though it might look like some sort of a nasty virus infection, the browser hijacker is not actually a malware threat. Handling this software is much easier than dealing with a Ransomware or a Trojan horse infection as a hijacker would typically have no malicious code in it and thus would not attempt to harm your system or your data. To achieve successful removal of the changes imposed by this software you don’t need to be an expert. Usually, a tool such as the professional Holbrooked.top removal tool from this page can easily deal with the unwanted application and have it removed from the system in no time. A detailed Removal Guide, just like the one below, can also do the job and help you deal with the hijacker.
But is it really true that an application like Holbrooked.top will not cause harm to your machine? According to the law, these applications are actually legal pieces of software as long as they do not engage in any harmful activities. Browser hijackers are not viruses but tools created to advertise something on the users’ screens. They serve the needs of the online advertising industry by aggressively promoting certain physical or software products, services, web pages, search engines, sales offers and similar commercial content. Basically, such pieces of software operate by displaying advertisements directly on the users’ screen or redirecting users to the sponsored pages. These applications also generate profits for their developers through popular online remuneration models such as Pay-Per-Click and Pay-Per-View. However, in no way do they seek to profit from illegal activities, corruption, theft or destruction the way that a Ransomware virus or a Trojan horse would.
The main reason people usually want to uninstall applications like Holbrooked.top is that they seem too intrusive and often affect the normal web browsing with their page-redirects and aggressive ads generation. If you also feel irritated by these activities, there is no need to struggle with your web surfing every day. Simply use the removal instructions that we have provided to bring your favorite browser back to normal.
How to prevent future contamination with browser hijackers?
The most common source of ad-generating and page-redirecting applications like Holbrooked.top are the free download pages, free software installers and bundles, as well as most of the shareware sites, spam messages and ads. Such applications typically trick users into allowing them to become part of the system by promoting themselves as “recommended” or “suggested” installations along with some other software. Therefore, when the users install the new application, they usually allow the additionally bundled ad-producing software on their system as well. This is a common mistake which, fortunately, can be easily avoided if only you follow some basic software installation steps. For one, it is really important to carefully read the EULA and find out whether the setup that you are about to run contains some additionally bundled applications or not. In case there are some, you should opt for the Advanced/Custom installation settings and disable any browser hijacker, adware or any other similar component from the detailed menu that usually opens. This way, you will have full control over the installer and will prevent potentially unwanted software from getting installed on and making changes to your system and browser.
