Hostify Version 1.1 Removal

This page aims to help you remove Hostify Version 1.1. These Hostify Version 1.1 removal instructions work for Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer, as well as every version of Windows.

Malware comes in all shapes and sizes. While some are inherently dangerous like Viruses, others are a bit more illusive in their supposed purpose. It is important to distinguish these illusive pieces of software called Adware from the commonly known term Virus. We recommend you read the following paragraphs carefully before advancing towards the removal instructions. It’s critical to learn what you are dealing with as that will help you form better decisions in the future and it can enable you to more easily prevent a computer infection.

Common misconceptions concerning Viruses and Adware

When coming to this page, chances are that you think Hostify Version 1.1 is a type of Virus. Well, this is not quite the case. Hostify Version 1.1 is better classified as Adware. The differences between both terms is quite clear once you wrap your head around it. Firstly, let’s talk a little bit about Viruses.

Viruses have a lot of similar things when compared to biological viruses. They both attack the most integral part of a system (whether computer or an organism) and they spread around it by replicating themselves. The difference, of course, is that Computer Viruses are aimed at infecting files on your machine rather than cells in a human body. But they still spread by creating copies of themselves and infecting the rest of your drives (if you have more than one). Once they are in and have secured themselves a new “home” they can start doing numerous things to your PC.

One of them is data collection. They use programs such as key loggers to track the things you type on your keyboard such as passwords and account names. They then use that to steal any kind of account you might have made. This can also include credit card information or bank accounts. And that’s not the end of it too.

They can also rob your PC from its resources such as CPU utilization, RAM usage or disk space (to name a few). This has several effects on your system, but most notably it will slow down everything you do. Simply browsing the internet can become something impossible to deal with, your boot up time can increase exponentially. Simply speaking your whole computing experience will be downgraded by these pieces of software.

Hostify Version 1.1, or Adware in general, on the other hand tend to do less of these things described above due to their different purpose. Adware is created to help spread unwanted ads to users susceptible to it. Browsers such as Chrome or Firefox are all targets of these pieces of software. Once they are in, ads can be seen everywhere in the browser window.

Banners are placed on the sides displaying deceptive ads leading to locations on the net that can often be described as malicious. Pop-up ads are another method of showing these ads. It’s basically a window popping up at the center of your window, obstructing everything. They are the most annoying of the bunch. Last but not least are the in-text ads. Simply put, they are hyperlinks placed in the text of the page itself, replacing it with links. They can even display pop-up windows when you hover over them. Again, they lead to the same suspicious websites.

Important practices when dealing with Hostify Version 1.1

It is very important for you to never interact with the ads. You have no benefit from doing so and they can only harm you in the long run. The Adware can use similar data collection methods described above to gather browser related information such as your browsing history or search queries. They then use that to shape the ads to your liking in hopes of deceiving you into clicking on them. When you do click, they also send a small amount of money to the creator of the software. Yes, with just a click they gain revenue. This is called pay-per-click and it’s a common way for companies to pay back websites that display their ads. Unfortunately, the Adware developers use this for their own benefit as well.

How did Hostify Version 1.1 get into my system?

The most common way for users to get Hostify Version 1.1 into their system is by downloading software installers from websites such as Softonic and Cnet. Hostify Version 1.1 is usually bundled with them and hidden inside the advanced options. Therefore, when proceed with the installation it gets installed without your consent by being enabled by default. Common prevention techniques are to simply inspect each step of the installation process. If you happen to see a checkbox that does something you don’t recognize or understand, uncheck it. That might be same Adware and you’ve just prevented an infection by having these habits.

Alright, with this trivia out of the way, do keep in mind a few more things. Removing or uninstalling Adware can prove to be difficult and intimidating at first. Doing something wrong can also send you into  a heap of trouble. We recommend the easiest way to remove Hostify Version 1.1 and that is to use our recommended removal tool.

  • Hi Tom, if you are suspicious about them feel free to delete them. You are not in danger to break anything.

    • I’ve removed the ips and followed the entire walkthrough to try and remove it but it still exists. When I try to uninstall it via control panel, I get the loading symbol then nothing happens. Is there any way I can get around it? Thanks

  • Hi Aljon, you have something on your PC that prevents content from these sites never to open your PC – which may actually be a good thing, since these are all chinese sites that spawn Ads.

  • Hi Cole, it’s possible that other Adware programs were installed alongside Hostify. Try going through the control panel and sort program installations by date. Look for the latest entries.

  • You have probably have another adware installed. Go to the Control Panel and sort programs by date. One of the most recent ones installed is likely to be the adware.
