Houbekuwucoo

Houbekuwucoo is a potentially unwanted piece of software that displays phony browser advertisements and triggers automated page redirection to potentially dangerous websites. Houbekuwucoo may hijack any browser installed on the PC, including Chrome, Firefox, Opera, and Edge.

The Houbekuwucoo virus may have introduced additional, potentially harmful browser extensions

A lot of visible changes to the settings of the hijacked browser are likely if Houbekuwucoo has infiltrated your PC and attached itself to one or more of your browsing apps. Instead of using your default search engine and homepage, for instance, Houbekuwucoo may have introduced additional, potentially harmful browser extensions without your knowledge or consent. It’s possible that you’ve started seeing a variety of intrusive advertisements, including pop-ups and banners that appear on the screen while you’re surfing or even while the browser is closed. All of these signs point to the existence of a browser hijacker, and you should not ignore them. Instead, take the steps required to remove the invading software from your computer.

Is Houbekuwucoo a threat?

In comparison to other serious threats like a Trojan Horse, a Ransomware, or a Spyware, Houbekuwucoo is not as harmful to your computer. Despite this, users are urged to remove hijacker programs of this kind as soon as possible due to some indirect security risks that may be related to them.

One of the main security concerns is that users should be aware that the adverts they see on their screens may be not be as reliable as they seem and may, sometimes, redirect them to malicious or fraudulent sites if they click on them. The ability of a browser hijacker to show ads and redirect users to different pages is often used by cybercriminals to increase the number of people who may be infected with real viruses and malware. This being said, Hijacker-generated ads, in certain cases, may lead to a page that appears like the home page of a well-known website, but is really a phishing page meant to deceive you into disclosing sensitive personal data, such as your bank account details.

Additionally, you may be redirected to web places where Trojans, Ransomware, or other hazards are disguised as genuine free software that the user may download. Even if you’re not aware of it, malware might be automatically installed on your computer when you visit a website that contains hidden security hazards.

That’s why, we believe that the indirect security risks this unwanted software might pose should not be ignored, which is why we recommend you to uninstall Houbekuwucoo, even if its primary objective is to promote particular websites via its advertisements and page-redirects, not to harm the system. If you need help with uninstalling Houbekuwucoo, we suggest you follow the instructions provided in the removal guide below.

In order to keep your computer safe in the future, try to avoid questionable web content and non-reputed websites, and download only software that has been proved as safe and authentic. The installation options should also be checked to see if there are any other components that may need to be disabled from the installation process, even if the software is safe. This is necessary because hijackers such as Houbekuwucoo and Hdtoday.tv virus are often packaged with third-party software and distributed in the same package as that third-party program.
