This page aims to help you remove MyShopMate. These MyShopMate removal instructions work for Chrome, Firefox and Safari, as well as for both  OS X and Windows.

Has MyShopMate bombarded you with pop-up ads? Have you ever experienced some naughty, probably constantly popping up ads that have been hard to be closed or you have been unable to remove them from your browser? Has the number of the appearing advertisements been so big that your computer has been slightly slowed down or your browser has stopped responding to your commands? The answer is probably YES and that is why you are now interested in our article. So, let’s not waste any more time asking questions and let’s start answering them.

What kind of a program has been bothering you?

The program that has been causing the appearance of so many ads different in shapes, forms, colors and versions is called MyShopMate. It has been identified as a member of the group of products popular as Adware. As you may have guessed from the name, Adware is actually advertisement-producing software, which can be incorporated into any browser (Firefox/Chrome/Safari/IExplorer). This type of software is legitimate and usually serves the demands of the marketing industry. You know that advertisements are everywhere: in movies, on TV, on the radio, even in theaters and plays. MyShopMate in particular (and Adware in general as well) have brought them on your computer screen as well.

Do you have reason to believe that MyShopMate is malicious?

Apart from the great irritation it might cause, it is relatively harmless. That means that this Adware-like program IS NOT able to act like a virus: to encode any data; to block any files; to destroy or crash your system or to spy on you or steal from you in any way. Still, Adware might have some specific features that might convince you that something about this software is not right. For example, the capability of researching your browsing history. Yes, MyShopMate could in fact try to match the ads it generates to the data gathered from your surfing activities and show only advertisements that you might be interested in. Some experts find that part of Adware’s behavior particularly questionable and consider it to be a PUP {potentially unwanted program}.

Another rather shady aspect of MyShopMate’s activities is the way it enters your system. Normally, it gets distributed via many possible carriers – spam emails, torrents, shareware. The most successful way of spreading it, though, is via software bundling. This process occurs when an Adware-type product is put into the same bundle with other types of software. Such combos are then spread around for free and that’s exactly how MyShopMate reaches your personal computer. First of all, let’s clarify that MyShopMate cannot become a part of your PC if you do not let it do that, either knowingly or unknowingly. Many users simply install any new program in their most habitual way: by choosing the Default or the Typical feature of the installer. However, this is the worst way of completing an installation process, because it allows all the components of a given bundle to be incorporated into your device. The option that will provide all the necessary details about a given bundle is called either ADVANCED or CUSTOM. By choosing it, you will know what you put into your system and what you leave behind.

What about prevention?

There is no concrete recipe when it comes to preventing MyShopMate. However, we can still suggest some basic tips that might help you avoid it in the future. The first and the most important aspect of preventing any threat – just as annoying as Adware or really malicious like Ransomware, is to find the best anti-virus program. A reliable anti-malware tool will help you get rid of ads, viruses and will stop you from visiting potentially dangerous places on the Internet. Secondly, it is always good to have your Firewall ON. You will be surprised, but this tool is very effective when it comes to prevention. Thirdly, make sure that you download any new software only from familiar sources. Last but not least, try to be clever when it comes to surfing the web. When your Firewall or anti-virus tool let you know that you are about to load a possibly hazardous web page, do not do it. It will save you a lot of time, resources and nerves later.
