WARNING! READERS PAY ATTENTION TO THIS! If you are checking out this page, you have been infected by a malicious application categorized as “adware.” All adware are designed to spin an elaborate manipulation on you, and that begins with a variety of messages that you will see displayed on your screen. Some of them will take the form of banners that say you are missing plugins, some of them will pose as updates of Java or FlashPlayer, some may even go so far as to pretend to be legitimate anti-virus programs concerned for the safety of your PC. If you make the mistake of clicking any one at all, a virus of the same type as Oursurfing will get installed. As you will learn in the rest of this article, this is extremely dangerous, and if you click an installer by mistake, make sure to quickly open up the task manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL at the same time) and End the process associated with the installer. They may not even ask you for specifics on where to install themselves, and may install the virus even if you click Exit.
- If you feel your PC has slowed down, do not fret unnecessary – this will pass when you remove Oursurfing. The sluggishness is associated with the advertisements, because they are not merely displayed by your rig, but are created by it. This puts a strain on the CPU. If your PC is having especially large loading times, limit the tabs you are viewing to this one until you remove the pest.
- This type of malware are well-known for being more dangerous the longer you let them remain on your system. The moment they infiltrate it, they begin collecting browsing data and cookies, which is later sent to the creator of the virus. In 2015, this creates a huge risk, as more and more people use online payment methods.
- If you click on the advertisements, they will send you over to other websites – one filled with adware and other PUPS (Potentially Unwanted Programs). We recommend that you avoid the advertisements and close any tabs immediately if you can not do so.
Remember – these things definitely can not enter unless you let them. That is why they try to trick you. Ignore everything and you should be fine for now.
How To Avoid Oursurfing (And Other Malware)
Avoiding malware is easier than most people think – you just need to know what to look for. There are two major ways for adware to enter – fake programs, and infected programs. The fake ones are just named after something many users are looking for, an MP3 File, a PDF book, something like that. They are Installers and you just need to end their process like we discussed.
The infected programs are trickier, but because the websites you downloaded them from are afraid of legal back clash, they show these kinds of disclaimers:
Basically if you something like this, exit the setup.
