This page aims to help you remove “Virus”. Our removal instructions work for Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer, as well as every version of Windows.

In the passages you will find below we will be discussing a webpage redirect named Being identified as a browser hijacker, it could affect your browser programs in the ways we will list below. Bear in mind that this is likely to affect all your browsers regardless of what they are – Opera, Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, etc.:

  • The way it could alter your browsers is by programming them to redirect you to somewhere on the Internet without your permission – normally to a web page you have never really visited before.;
  • Moreover, such redirects might cause the generation of a great number of online ads in the form of banners and pop-ups when you are browsing the Internet.
  • To top it all, “Virus” could even take off the default homepage or search engine you are used to and might put some new ones which you don’t really want.

More details about browser hijackers in broader terms, as well as this particular representative, are here for you in the paragraphs below. We really believe that this article is what you need to deal with your hijacker-related issues.

Some more facts about browser hijackers: and any similar redirect hijackers might be considered technically NOT dangerous. However, most of them may sometimes show really questionable features like acquiring access to your browsers, requesting surfing and search data and using such info to try to define what kind of products/services you may really be interested in. After that, only ads that supposedly match your preferences would get displayed on your screen. It is a plain marketing strategy, but it is still a really effective one.

In addition, the intensive production of ads may slow down your device a little. This potential negative effect is dependent on the resources of your device and you may never really experience it.

Note: If you are sure something is part of the infection – delete it, even if the scanner doesn’t flag it. No anti-virus program can detect all infections.

Is this program related to any malware category?

Fortunately, there is usually no reason to worry that a hijacker would actually try to harm your system. Nevertheless, we have to clarify the considerable differences between viruses and redirects. For that reason we are comparing a Ransomware version and “Virus” below:

Now that you are already aware of the characteristics of, we will present what a real piece of malware such as a Ransomware virus is normally like. Typically, viruses function in a different way compared to hijackers. For instance, if the virus is a Ransomware version, it could sneak into your PC, remain hidden there and research your hard drive to determine the file formats that will be encrypted. When the elaborate list that contains all of that data is ready, the Ransomware typically continues with the process of encoding these file formats. That way you lose your access to them, and the Ransomware displays a notification that is meant to inform you your data has been rendered unavailable and you are expected to pay a ransom in exchange for them. When compared to such a malicious piece of malware, the effects may really look like nothing serious.

How you might have caught

The ways in which programmers could spread hijackers are usually quite stealthy and unclear, because the affected user might unknowingly accept and authorize the installation of such advertising tools.

For sure, no one wants to let such a page redirect get installed on their PCs because they might be aware of just how much it could disturb them. Therefore, its designers have managed to find a way to spread it without clearly saying it is there, and you may catch it as a result of that confusion. For getting ad-producing plug-ins and websites, programmers may make their sources really tempting. That’s why program bundles are so commonly used – it could be really tempting to download such a bundle as it is usually free software but it could contain in it all sorts of programs and some of them might not be desirable to have. Even though such hijackers may be included in such bundles, you can still skip installing them on your device.

How to install a bundle but at the same time avoid the possible hijacker that might be there?

The most common mistake you are likely to make that may really cause an infection with is to install the wanted bundle via one of the following steps:

    • Default, Recommended or Easy installation settings:
    • Such features allow a process of automatic installation of the ENTIRE CONTENT OF A BUNDLE or ALL THE FEATURES OF ANY SOFTWARE. In brief, this means that all sorts of infections are possible, and some unwanted changes to your PC could take place.
    • To skip the undesired effects we have explained above, simply select the Custom or the Advanced installation features. On the condition that you always do that, you will have the last word when it comes to what is going to be installed on your PC.
