Computer viruses are never a walk in the park to deal with, and of all the types of infections you can suffer, a ransomware attack is truly among the worst. It can prove devastating to individuals, robbing them of important memories, personal paperwork and perhaps valuable projects, as well as organizations and businesses. One of the latest ransomware variants is called .Kk Virus (probably also the reason why you’ve landed on this page) has been responsible for encrypting the files on numerous computers, striking large numbers of users across the world. We have dedicated this article to explaining what it is that makes these viruses so seemingly invincible and what you can do on your part to help stop them. In addition, to those, who’ve already been affected by the malicious processes of this malware type, we have also prepared a detailed removal guide. You can find it just below this article and it will guide you towards removing .Kk Virus from your system. Why ransomware is so popular and what can be done to stop it

Security experts around the globe have been struggling to keep up with this terrible malware category for years now and to no avail. Unfortunately, it has become an insanely profitable criminal scheme and crypto currencies like bitcoins (in which the hackers often require the ransom be transferred) have made it even more difficult for authorities to combat these cyber criminals. So the first and most logical step towards beating this phenomenon is if users refuse to fund them by paying the ransom. There are other options you can try before resorting to the ransom payment. And trust us – that isn’t the most reliable option at all either, because it’s no rarity for victims to transfer the requested money and be left empty handed as a result. The hackers usually promise to send back a decryption key that will help decode the files, but that’s not always the case. And sometimes even when a key is indeed sent, it doesn’t work.

If there are suspicious IPs below “Localhost” – write to us in the comments.

Type msconfig in the search field and hit enter. A window will pop-up:

msconfig_opt

Go in Startup —> Uncheck entries that have “Unknown” as Manufacturer.

  • Please note that ransomware may even include a fake Manufacturer name to its process. Make sure you check out every process here is legitimate.

Step4

WARNING!
To remove parasite, you may have to meddle with system files and registries. Making a mistake and deleting the wrong thing may damage your system.

How to Decrypt .Kk Virus files

We have a comprehensive (and daily updated) guide on how to decrypt your files. Check it out here.

If the guide doesn’t help, download the anti-virus program we recommended or try our free online virus scanner. Also, you can always ask us in the comments for help!

First of all, removing the ransomware (in your case, .Kk Virus) is paramount and must be done before you attempt to do anything else at all. This will prevent it from potentially encrypting other files or the files you manage to save. After that you can resort to file recovery methods like the ones described in our guide below. They will attempt to restore your encrypted data from system backups, which may or may not be possible – depending on each separate case. But there are other alternatives, as well. Such are special decryptor tools, for example, used to try and breach through the encryption of the ransomware. We have a list of those that we regularly update, as well. So you might want to keep an eye on it and see if the right one pops up for you. You can also always contact a professional, who specializes in dealing with these types of attacks.

How to protect your system from now on

Of course, nowadays security companies are working on creating new antivirus programs that would be able to detect ransomware activity and block it. But that’s rarely ever the case and most security software won’t prevent ransomware from encrypting your data. That’s not to say that you shouldn’t have an antivirus – it can still protect you from backdoor viruses and other malware. But to protect yourself from viruses like .Kk Virus in particular you would need to start practicing basic safety measures when browsing the web, as well as start avoiding the probable sources of ransomware.

These are typically spam emails and other messages that may contain an attachment or a hyperlink. Don’t blindly open and follow what these messages say. If they don’t come from a legit source and seem kind of off, you’re better off just deleting them straight away. Malvertisements and fake system update requests are also highly common ransomware transmitters and it wouldn’t be unlikely if you actually caught .Kk Virus from one of those. Don’t click around on suspicious content, try to stay away from illegal websites and simply just use your common sense before interacting with anything on the web. The majority of attacks can easily be prevented by following these very simple, but very necessary steps.
