Koooblycar

Koooblycar is described as a browser hijacker, that typically makes potentially unwanted modifications to the browser and floods the screen with advertisements and automatic page redirects. If Koooblycar is presently installed in your Chrome, Firefox, or another browser that you have on your computer, we urge that you remove it immediately to avoid exposing your machine to viruses and other security threats.

The Koooblycar virus land you on familiar, unfamiliar and strange websites

The most obvious sign that you have a browser hijacker such as Koooblycar running in your browser (or browsers) is if the browser’s default homepage and/or default search engine have been modified from their original settings. The appearance of random page redirects, that land you on unfamiliar and strange websites is another highly common hijacker symptom. Another prominent indicator that a hijacker is present is the aggressive display of advertisements, as well as the appearance of strange pop-up windows on the screen even when the browser is not active.

Does Koooblycar pose any danger?

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, it is understandable that you might feel irritated and upset. Keep in mind, however, that the issue is typically quickly resolved as long as you remain calm and follow the steps required for uninstalling Koooblycar from the system. On the other hand, even if you do not consider the browser modifications, the advertisements, and the page redirects to be a serious source of disturbance, it is still better to remove the program that is causing them because while the hijacker that has infiltrated your system is unlikely to be a direct threat on its own, it has the potential to expose you to other, more significant security threats such as Ransomware, Trojans and computer viruses.

When a hijacker like Koooblycar or Bland Captcha is attached to a browser, the primary security worry is that the material it spams on the user’s screen may be hazardous and might be linked to bogus websites meant to mislead anybody who views them.

In today’s world, phishing is a fairly popular sort of cyber scam, and a phishing website may sometimes seem to be quite convincing, causing even the most experienced users to fall for it. Furthermore, some of the advertisements and redirects that hijackers display may direct users to malware-distributing websites where harmful programs may be disguised as regular downloads, which the user may be tempted to download on their system, resulting in their computer becoming infected with malware.

After all this being said, you probably understand why the best course of action that we recommend when confronted with Koooblycar or any other browser hijacker is to ignore the advertising materials that it displays on the screen and to remove the rogue program as quickly as possible from the machine.

The removal of Koooblycar from your computer, even though it may occasionally be challenging and time-consuming, should not be too difficult, especially if you strictly follow the instructions in the guide below and/or if you use the professional anti-malware tool that we’ve provided on this page for your convenience.

Safety in the future

Once you have completed the removal of Koooblycar, remember to use more caution while surfing the internet in the future. For example, one of the most typical ways hijackers such as this one are spread is via the use of bogus/misleading permission pop-ups that appear when the browser is attempting to access certain suspicious websites. If you don’t pay attention to the pop-up and just click the “Accept” button, the browser-hijacking site will be granted different rights in your browser without you even knowing it. In addition to the use of file-bundles, hijacker components are commonly distributed via the use of other applications, which is why you must always pay special attention to the various options and sections in the installation managers of new programs that you are going to install on your PC. If any extra components offered in an installer seem to be unneeded, you should uncheck them and proceed with the installation without them to prevent the installation of other potentially unwanted applications on your system.

Remove Koooblycar Virus

If you have a Windows virus, continue with the guide below.

If you have a Mac virus, please use our How to remove Ads on Mac guide.

If you have an Android virus, please use our Android Malware Removal guide.

If you have an iPhone virus, please use our iPhone Virus Removal guide

These steps may help those of you who wish to get rid of Koooblycar on their browser as quickly as possible.

  • Open the hijacked browser and choose More Tools (or Add-ons) from the main menu.
  • Afterward, locate and open the Extensions tab or sub-menu.
  • Find any extensions that may be relevant to Koooblycar and its activities in the new Extensions page.
  • Removing anything suspicious or possibly undesirable should always be your first line of defense.

Here are some browser-specific instructions for some of the most commonly used browsers:

  Remove Koooblycar from Internet Explorer:

Start IE, open the menu top right   and select the Manage Add-ons.

Disable any unwanted browser extensions by clicking the Disable button.

After that, return to the main menu (the gear icon) and choose Internet Options this time. If the homepage URL has been altered, erase the undesirable address and type a URL that you like. When you’re finished, click Apply to save the changes.

 Remove Koooblycar from Firefox:

When you open Firefox, click the main menu icon, go to the Add-ons menu and choose Extensions. Remove any extensions that you believe are interfering with your browser experience, and check if the browser operates normally after you do that.

Remove Koooblycar from Chrome:

Keep Google Chrome Closed and manually go to this location:

 C:/Users/!!!!USER NAME!!!!/AppData/Local/Google/Chrome/User Data.

Select the Default folder and rename it to Backup Default. Then start the browser to see how it works.

You may need to follow our detailed Koooblycar removal instructions below if deleting the hijacker-related extensions from the affected browsers doesn’t work and the unwanted application keeps spamming you with aggressive advertisements and automated redirection to strange sites.

During the next steps, it will be best if you restart your computer in Safe Mode. Before you do that, however, please bookmark this page in your browser so that you can easily return to it after the restart.

When the computer has successfully restarted in Safe Mode, press Windows and R from the keyboard together and enter appwiz.cpl in the Run box. Then, press the OK button to open the Control Panel.

Make a search in the newly opened window for fake or potentially unwanted applications that may have introduced Koooblycar into the system through software bundling. Select the apps you want to remove and click the Uninstall button at the top of the window to remove them. Then complete the uninstallation process and if required, restart your system.

WARNING! READ CAREFULLY BEFORE PROCEEDING!

The next step is to see whether there are any background processes supporting the browser hijacker’s operations on your computer. You may accomplish this by pressing CTRL + SHIFT + ESC simultaneously. This will open the Task Manager.

Go to the Processes Tab and sort the processes by how much CPU and memory they use. Right-click on any process that has an unusual name, appears suspicious, or utilizes a lot of system resources and choose Open File Location.

Finally, scan the files of that process for hijacker-related code using the sophisticated online virus scanner below:

Each file will be scanned with up to 64 antivirus programs to ensure maximum accuracy
This scanner is free and will always remain free for our website's users.
This file is not matched with any known malware in the database. You can either do a full real-time scan of the file or skip it to upload a new file. Doing a full scan with 64 antivirus programs can take up to 3-4 minutes per file.

This scanner is based on VirusTotal's API. By submitting data to it, you agree to their Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, and to the sharing of your sample submission with the security community. Please do not submit files with personal information if you do not want them to be shared.

It is important that you end the process and remove the files and their associated directories if the scanner flags them as dangerous.

Next, you’ll want to check what programs are loaded into your system when it boots up. It is common for browser hijackers to include startup items that allow them to execute as soon as the machine is started. This means you must launch System Configuration (Type msconfig in the Start Menu search area and press enter) in order to disable the invasive program from running your computer.

Then uncheck any startup items you feel are connected to the browser hijacker and its activities in the Startup tab. Don’t uncheck any items that are connected to your system or legitimate software. When you’re finished, click OK to save your changes.

When a browser hijacker infects a computer, it may alter the DNS settings. That’s why in this step we will show you how to remove any rogue DNS that might have been added.

For that, you must open Network Connections (you may search for it in the Start Menu search bar) and follow the instructions below:

    1. Right-click on the network adapter you’re presently using. Then open Properties from the pop-up menu.
    2. In the new window, find Internet Protocol Version 4 (ICP/IP), select it, then click Properties.
    3. Once you’ve chosen the option to Obtain DNS server address automatically as indicated in the picture, click on Advanced.
    4. In the new window, click on the DNS tab and, if necessary, delete any rogue DNS from the field. Then, click on OK.

After you are done with the DNS settings, use the Windows and R key combination and paste the following line in the Run bow:

    notepad %windir%/system32/Drivers/etc/hosts

Don’t forget to press Enter and then, in the Hosts file that gets open on the screen, search for Localhost.

Check if there are any strange IP addresses below Localhost. Close the file if nothing catches your eye. You may, however, drop us a note in the comments below this page if you see any Virus Creator IPs, such as those shown in the image below:

In addition to installing addons, Koooblycar may alter the browser’s settings. So, please follow the instructions in this step to fix your browsers if deleting the potentially unwanted hijacker extensions does not work.

We are demonstrating the instructions on Google Chrome, but you should know that the same instructions (or almost identical ones) can be used with Firefox, Internet Explorer, or any other browser that has been compromised.

Right-click on the browser’s shortcut icon and choose the Properties option.

Select —–> Shortcut in the Properties window. Remove anything after .exe from the Target field and click OK to save the new settings.

Finally, be sure to go through the Registry for any entries referencing Koooblycar and its activity. To access the Registry Editor, enter Regedit in the Start Menu search bar and press Enter.

Next, open a Find window, (press the CTRL and F keys together) and enter the hijacker’s name in it. After that, start a registry search for entries that match that name by clicking on the Find Next button. You must carefully remove any results that are found but only if you are 100% sure that they are not linked to any legitimate program or a system process.

If nothing is found in the search results, you can manually check the following directories for Koooblycar-related entries:

    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER—-Software—–Random Directory.
    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER—-Software—Microsoft—-Windows—CurrentVersion—Run– Random
    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER—-Software—Microsoft—Internet Explorer—-Main—- Random

Attention! If you remove registry items that aren’t linked to the hijacker, you might end up damaging your operating system and preventing it from working properly. That’s why, feel free to ask us in the comments if you need any help. Also, don’t hesitate to use the professional anti-virus program linked on this page to deal with the browser hijacker or scan any suspicious-looking files with the free online virus scanner.
