Landslide Search

Landslide Search is an unwanted app programmed to take over your Mac browser’s settings and introduce changes in them that haven’t been approved by you. The main goal of Landslide Search is to get you redirected to advertising pages that earn money for each visit.

The Landslide Search Virus will try to trick you into installing its software

The browser hijackers can be a real nuisance because of their ability to mess with the settings of your Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or any other web browser without asking for approval. Programs like Landslide Search, Bing Redirect, Search Pulse for instance, are known to add their own rules to the browser and to drastically affect the user’s web browsing experience. The new homepage and the newly set search engine in your browser are among the very first symptoms of being infected with a browser hijacker. Other typical signs that may indicate you are dealing with such software could be the never-ending stream of pop-up ads, banners, and blinking boxes that may greet you on every page you visit. You may also notice that, as soon as you start your browser, your web searches automatically start to get redirected to websites that you never intended to load.

All this must be very familiar to you as you’ve probably come to this page because you’ve already detected a browser hijacker representative called Landslide Search in your computer. If this is your case, in this article, you will find detailed instructions on how to uninstall the unwanted program from your computer and how to safely remove all the changes it has made.

Landslide Search on Mac

Landslide Search for Mac is an undesirable software that functions as a browser extension but instead of benefiting the user seeks to generate revenue through ads. Landslide Search for Mac is also known for promoting questionable sites by automatically redirecting the users to them.

If you are facing a browser hijacker for the first time, you may not be completely sure about what exactly might Landslide Search be up to and why it messes with your web browser. Don’t worry because most people aren’t really aware of that either and they just assume they’ve been infected with a virus, which leads them to getting panicked. Fortunately, Landslide Search is not a virus or some other type of malicious program and has nothing to do with fearful infections such as Ransomware, Trojans, or other threats of this rank. The activities of the browser hijacker are purely marketing-driven as this app only seeks to promote specific products, services, and their related websites by showing paid ads and drawing clicks to them.

In order to advertise more effectively, however, programs like Landslide Search tend to employ different tactics and certain behavioral patterns that easily put them in the category of potentially unwanted programs.

For example, the browser hijackers are known to make changes to the browser related to the homepage or to the default browser search engine. They can also collect browsing-related data and use it to optimize their online advertising campaigns. These are just some of the reasons why many web users prefer to remove these programs.

The Landslide Search Virus

The Landslide Search Virus is a form of browser hijacker software known for infecting Mac machines and changing the settings of their main browsers. The Landslide Search Virus does this in order to spam the user with redirects to promoted sites that generate revenue on a pay-per-click basis.

Browser hijackers like Landslide Search, unfortunately, are also able to expose you to various questionable web locations and even sites that have malware in them. This can happen as a result of all the random page-redirects you may experience while the unwanted software operates on your computer. For instance, if you click on a given pop-up or a redirect link generated by Landslide Search, you may end up landing on an unsafe website or clicking on an ad that has been infected with Trojans, Spyware or other viruses. Sadly nowadays no one is immune against malware attacks since hackers and cybercriminals heavily rely on fake online advertisements to spread malicious programs such as Ransomware, Rootkits, and so on. Besides, the changes the browser hijackers can make to your web browser can sometimes affect its safety level and make the computer more vulnerable to viruses. That’s why, if you don’t find the activity of this software as useful or desirable, it is a good idea to uninstall it with the help of the instructions below.

  • I’ve done all of this steps and even others that other sites have suggested. But I’m stating to think this thing is too deep in my computer. I don’t have it in extensions, it doesn’t show in my applications or utilities but I’ve deleted almost everything just in case and it still opens a yahoo browser. When I go to chrome settings, I can see landslide marked as my default search engine, but when I click on the three dots next to it, the little pop up with the options “Edit” or “Remove” doesn’t pop up. And I have no way of changing my start up page. I even bought an antivirus that’s supposed to be the greatest (Total AV) and it doesn’t find any malware or whatever it is that Landslide is supposed to be.
    HELP PLEASE!!!
