This page aims to help you remove Lotej for free. Our instructions also cover how any Lotej file can be recovered.
Though most Ransomware infections leave your computer intact and don’t try to cause any actual damage, these malicious computer programs are still among the most problematic forms of malware that you can get inside of your computer system. Here, we want to tell our readers about Lotej, which belongs to this insidious family of computer programs. The purpose of Lotej, as well as the purpose of other Ransomware cryptoviruses like it, is to encrypt the files found in the computers of its victims. The encryption used by the Ransomware renders all affected data inaccessible without a corresponding key that only the criminals behind the virus have. They actually offer this key to their victims but only if the latter pay a certain amount of money to the online criminals. The money is normally required in BitCoin – a cryptocurrency that is difficult to trace, meaning that the hackers’ identities wouldn’t be revealed. This helps the criminals attack more and more user without fear of getting caught and brought to justice.
Should you pay the .Lotej virus ransom?
We understand that if you have important data in your computer and Lotej has locked it, you would want to restore those files ASAP, even if you have to pay money to get the data back. However, before you go and pay the ransom, consider the following: you are dealing with dishonest Internet hackers that don’t’ really care about what happens to your files. Their only concern is if they get your money or not – and if they do get it, there wouldn’t really be anything forcing to send the decryption key to you. Many users have been left without decryption keys despite having paid the full ransom sum. Furthermore, there is another unpleasant possibility if you pay, and that is the possibility of receiving a broken key that doesn’t work – a simple error in the code of the key can render it absolutely useless, and then you would have paid for something that cannot help you in any way. And, of course, making payments to such criminals would definitely encourage them to keep expanding their dishonest blackmailing schemes, and they may even consider you as a future target, seeing as how you have already given in to their demands once.
What about the .Lotej file encryption?
To deal with this in an alternative way, you will first need to make sure that Lotej is remove. TO elimiante the malware, use the steps included in the removal guide from this page (see below). After the cryptovirus is gone, you can try some of the potential recovery methods found on our site (see the guide). However, sadly, those alternative methods aren’t universal, and may not always be fully effective. Sadly, nothing can really guarantee the restoration of your data if a Ransomware infection has encrypted it. Nothing aside from a full data backup – if you have this, simply copy back your files from the backup to your machine, but only after the virus has been fully removed (or else the backup may get infected, and the files in it encrypted as well.
