Maktub Locker Virus Ransomware is not hard to understand and with a little bit of knowledge you can deal with it effectively and possibly even restore your PC back to its original state. We’ve prepared for our readers a list of steps to follow that will help you remove the ransomware from your system for good. Before diving straight to them however, we recommend you skimp over the following information outlined in the paragraphs below. Proper understanding of your adversary is half the battle and this ransomware is no exception to this rule.
What is Maktub Locker Virus Ransomware? Which are the most crucial tips one needs to know when dealing with it?
Maktub Locker Virus Ransomware is not your run of the mill virus. It can be a lot more cunning in some aspects and less dangerous in others. Unlike a virus, it does not aim to reproduce or copy itself all around your system. It’s simply purposed with scaring you to the very core and then blackmailing you for money. This can be done in a number of ways, but the developers usually use well known social engineering strategies.
One of the most major mistakes people make is to consider the offer given by their attackers. Once Maktub Locker Virus Ransomware is inside your PC and it has performed all preparations, it sends a message to the user containing instructions on how to get your files back along with a payment address of sorts. The message can be in the form of a text file or a picture. Whats important, however, is that you need to ignore the threatening message. It’s very important to note that the developers of this ransomware are relying on you, as well as a bunch of other victims to feed them money. That is their whole goal when creating it, but by denying them payment, you avoid motivating them to continue with their malicious acts.
The most cunning and effective way Maktub Locker Virus Ransomware uses to scare its victims is by restricting access to their PCs. This is even more catastrophical if you have valuable work on it. It uses a strong encryption algorithm that is next to impossible to crack by any means possible. It would take years to recover a single file. This is why this software is regarded as highly dangerous, as it can render all of your files unrecoverable. You cannot decrypt them, so your only option is to use some sort of a backup. If you do not have that option, then you are definitely in trouble, unfortunately not all is lost. Do note that we offer an alternative method where you can restore your erased original files. This method has its own flaws, namely the fact that it is unreliable. It may work for some people, but not for others, usually depending on the size of their free HDD space.
How does spread?
Maktub Locker Virus Ransomware does not actually attack your computer directly. These types of software are not made to penetrate systems. There is a much better solution to perform the attack itself, named the Trojan horse type of virus. Trojan viruses are very widespread and well-known and there’s no surprise that they are the most versatile programs when it comes to infecting computers. You often download them by mistake when you visit certain malicious sites. Sometimes, they may automatically download just by opening the web page. This is why its very important for you to stay within trusted sites when browsing the internet. If something seems off, has a suspicious name or description, its safe to say that its better for you to not visit this particular site. Better safe than sorry as people say. The best way to protect yourself is to have good browsing habits, to know which sites and places to avoid and to always double check what you download.
If you do not have the option of using a backup, you can follow our steps below to achieve success in saving your PC. They should be fairly easy to follow and complete. Before you know it, you’ll have your PC back and ready to work. However, if you are feeling anxious and unsure of your computer skills, then we strongly recommend you use our removal tool to deal with the problem. Do note, however, that anti-virus and anti-malware programs are not able to restore your files after they remove the virus. That you’ll have to do yourself.

How to Decrypt files infected with Maktub Locker Virus Ransomware
There is only one known way to remove the virus’ encryption that MAY work (no guarantees) – reversing your files to a previous state. There are two options you have for this:
The first is using a system backup. Search for Backup and Restore in the windows search field —–> “Select another backup to restore files from”
If you have no backups, your option is Recuva
Go to the official site for Recuva and download its free version. When you start the program, select the file types you want to recover. You probably want all files. Next select the location. You probably want Recuva to scan all locations.
Click on the box to enable Deep Scan. The program will now start working and it may take a really long time to finish, so be patient and take a break if necessary.
You will now get a big list of files to pick from. Select all relevant files you need and click Recover.
