What you need to know about Trojan Horse viruses
Pretty much everybody who has owned a computer for some time has heard about this infamous category of malicious programs. Trojans are some of the most commonly encountered software infections and are also some of the most dangerous ones as well. One important factor with regards to the Trojan Horses is their ability to stay below the radar and carry out their insidious tasks without getting detected for long periods of time. Most users typically fail to realize that their machine has gotten infected by such a virus. This is normally attributed to the way Trojans get inside a PC’s system – usually, there’s some piece of content that carries the virus while disguising it as something seemingly harmless – an e-mail attachment, an online ad, a fake update request, a compromised software installer or executable file. Anything could be used to distribute a Trojan Horse virus. In some cases, the element that carries the infection is rather easy to spot. For instance, there are online ads and offers that are obviously unreliable and it is also relatively easy to tell when a new e-mail isn’t legitimate and is instead spam. However, it isn’t always like that – sometimes the hackers manage to disguise the malware that they have created really well and a lot of users get tricked into interacting with the virus’ source. Still, all of this is actually good news for the sole reason that in order for a Trojan to make it inside your PC, the virus needs you to make some sort of mistake which normally revolves around opening/interacting with the element that distributes the malware. Lately, hackers have started experimenting with new ways of infecting targeted devices that do not require end-user interaction. However, the majority of malicious programs out there still need you to actually fall for the hackers’ “trap” – otherwise, the virus wouldn’t be able to infect your machine. With this in mind, you must from now on make sure that you don’t give the hackers a chance to infiltrate your system and mess with your computer. Always be alert and vigilant while browsing the Internet.
