Masterhost.space Virus

Masterhost.space

Masterhost.space is a browser hijacker that affects portable Android devices. Specifically, Masterhost.space can become part of the Chrome, Firefox or other browser that you have installed on your smartphone or tablet.

Masterhost.space

The Masterhost.space Virus will display pop up ads and windows

Typical symptoms of an infection with software like Masterhost.space have to do with the appearance of your browser. Namely, the hijacker will likely change the browser homepage to a different one and possibly also substitute the existing default search engine. But most annoying of all would have to be the myriads of online ads that begin to flood your screen with the installation of this type of software on your device.

These ads come in every shape and size, from popups and banners, to box messages and in-text links. And they can be visible on any website, at any time.

The Masterhost.space Virus

You may also be forced to deal with page redirects as a result of Masterhost.space’s activity, and that’s something to watch out for. The more Masterhost.space redirects you are faced with, the more likely you are to potentially be exposed to some unsafe web location that may be swarming with viruses.

Hence, we recommend removing Masterhost.space from your smartphone or tablet, instead of having to endure all of its annoying effects.

We should point out, however, that although Masterhost.space runs the risk of exposing you to various malicious threats such as Trojans and ransomware, it is not a virus itself. Browser hijackers are classified as potentially unwanted programs at most, and they actually serve as a means to earn revenue from paid ads.

Remove Masterhost.space Virus from Android

If you have an Android virus, continue with the guide below.

If you have an iPhone virus, please use our iPhone Virus Removal guide.

If you have a Mac virus, please use our How to remove Ads on Mac guide.

If you have a Windows virus, please use our Windows Virus Removal guide.

Whether you use the default “Internet” App for browsing or a different browser like Chrome you need to go to:
Settings/More/Application Manager/All

Locate the Browser/App in question and tap on it.

Now the method is effectively the same for users using both “Internet” and Chrome/Other Browsers, yet for more clarity we have provided instructions for both:

For “Internet” Browser Users:

Tap the Force Stop button.

Now tap the Clear Data and Clear Cache Buttons.

For Google Chrome Users:

Click on  Force Stop.

Then click on Clear Data and Clear Cache.

Restart your Browser. It might be a good idea to Reboot your Android device, just in case.

  • Important!

If you are still seeing Ads in your browser, it is likely they are generated by the websites you visit and there is nothing you can do about it.

However, if you are seeing Adverts outside of your internet browser, then one of your installed Apps contains the problematic Adware. In this case you need to take a look at this guide.

  • In Step #1 for Chrome users we are told to go to Settings/More/Application manager… but there is no “More”available.

    • Hi Everett Lapp,
what you have to do is to go to Settings on your phone and then find Application manager. /More/ is when you have to load more settings if you cant see the Application manager.

  • I have followed all the steps twiceand it still keeps opening up weired pages.I clear up all tabs and open pages at night.By morning I have 23 or 27 tabs open.Cant seem to get rid of this!!

  • Hi Brandon,
I received masterhost warnings saying :Viruses found? Your google is severely damaged by 39 viruses?…I deleted the majority of my free apps and installed Nortons Mobile Security.
I still occasionally see a white window open at the top of my screen with 4 random numbers. Sometimes there are more numbers under those.
Question: Should I go through the masterhost.space removal process or just trust nortons?
    Sandy

    • Hi Sandy Hall,
i would suggest to you to go through the removal process and then use Norton to be sure.

      • Just FYI, I have the same problem, so I subscribed to Norton 360 and ran everything, but the ##%!% masterhost virus remains

  • I have a samsung note 10. When I look at apps I am unable to sort by most recent. And then when I try to type admin in on the settings , it won’t allow me to type it. I have tried to look at each app very carefully and can’t figure how to stop this.

  • I have a Samsung Galaxy s8 plus. I keep receiving a message “Masterhost.space says” everytime on click on the Chrome browser. I have Norton 360 mobile and its not finding any viruses. Do you know how I can get rid of this annoying message? I know if I click on the OK button I will probably regret it.
    Thank you in advance.

    • Hi Tom B, try to look for any suspicious applications and delete them, and do not click on the pop ups that Masterhost.space will show you.

  • After getting these same notices on my LG / android phone, and being told to install a “cleaner”, I refused to install the suggested app, but did install a cleaner matching my virus protection. This did NOT stop the notices. So I followed your removal process in Chrome and in Duck Duck Go. It works!! It has only been 10 minutes, but I am encouraged. Thank You!
