So, stay with us until the end of this page to find out more.
If you’re wondering what exactly Mellowsurvey.com is, this is an ad-generating component, which has been created with the idea to display all kinds of advertisements. The developers behind this program have integrated a special ad-displaying code that easily synchronizes with any browser you may use and effectively displays a huge number of ads, pop-ups, banners, boxes and promotional notifications on your screen. This usually happens every time you open your browser and the reason is that this component is installed directly on your computer. In general, this type of software falls into a specific category known as adware, which comes in short from advertising software. Adware is considered a perfectly legitimate way to display advertisements on the screen of users and is actually a widely spread software tool, used by the online marketing industry. What makes it even more popular is that such an ad-generating component is preferred by many businesses and software developers as a method to generate revenue through paid ads with the help of the well-known Pay-Per-Click scheme.
How is Mellowsurvey.com distributed and installed?
Adware components could usually be found in torrents, spam emails or file sharing platforms where they are packed inside installers, download managers or setups of other software you may download. A very common distribution practice used by many software developers is to bundle an ad-generating application like Mellowsurvey.com along with a piece of software that they distribute for free. In fact, there are many ad-supported programs, games or plugins which come packed with adware that “sponsors” them until you pay for registration. That’s why, if you usually download and install such free applications on your machine, there is a great chance of getting an ad-generating component along with them. The tricky thing is you may not really notice it, especially if you are not attentive during the setup process and just proceed with the normal/standard/quick installation. This is because the adware is not placed there, but could be found in the advanced/custom/manual option during the setup. This is where you are advised to click if you want to prevent such potentially unwanted components from getting installed without your notice.
Is Mellowsurvey.com malicious?
Now this is the question that is probably bothering you the most, especially if you are faced with adware for the first time. Indeed, you may feel like your browser has gone crazy and a nasty virus has probably taken control over it. Luckily, this assumption is wrong, because adware is not a virus, nor a malicious program like a Trojan or Ransomware. To give you a better idea of how harmless adware is, we will say that it cannot replicate on other computers or spread on networks like a virus, nor can it corrupt system files, or encrypt your data like Ransomware does. Therefore, you don’t need to be concerned about your system safety, even if you have Mellowsurvey.com on your PC.
However, adware may easily become a source of serious browsing-related irritation and disturbance when it floods your screen with aggressive and unstoppable pop-ups, banners, boxes, and ads. As a side effect, your system may become sluggish, which may be enough for you to decide to uninstall the adware from your computer. Moreover, this program may keep track of your online searches and activity and collect browsing related data, which may be transmitted to third parties and developers or sold as valuable marketing information. That’s why, in case you wish to completely remove it from your system, we have prepared a helpful removal guide, which you will find below. You can even double check your system with the Mellowsurvey.com removal tool for some remains and traces to make sure this program is no longer silently tracking your online movements.
