Ransomware programs are easily among the most harmful threats on the internet. These cryptoviruses are capable of completely robbing you of your most important data and thus causing very serious damage to either you as a private person or your enterprise. One of the most recently unleashes variants of this type is better known under the name .Mole Virus and is what our article will be focusing on today. Like the majority of ransomware viruses, .Mole Virus encrypts certain file types on the victim’s machine and then attempts to blackmail the user into paying ransom in exchange for having those files decrypted. Now, since you have landed on this page, we’re assuming that you’re not in a rush to pay anyone anything and would be more inclined to check out your other options. Well, we are one of your other options. Below you will find a detailed removal guide, which we highly recommend you use, regardless of what you decide to do afterwards. Removing the ransomware is the number one step to ensuring the full recovery of your system and data. Furthermore, the guide also contains instructions on how you may possibly be able to restore the files that have been encrypted. Read the following few paragraphs to learn more about that threat you are currently facing.

What is .Mole Virus and how does it work?

The main reason why ransomware viruses enjoy the crazy popularity that they do today is because they are both very difficult to prevent by means of traditional antivirus software, as well as often cause irreversible damage. Now, even if you have a good antivirus program installed on your PC, it may be helpless against a ransomware attack for one very simple reason: the process of encryption that it uses on your files is not an inherently malicious one. In fact, this is a very common data protection method and something that various payment providers use so as to keep your financial details secret, when you buy something online, for example. So, the ransomware uses this very same technique to lock your files away from you, by creating encrypted copies of your data and then deleting the originals.

Once the process is complete, the virus can then reveal itself by generating a ransom note on your screen, which you no doubt have already seen for yourself. Now, the thing about dealing with the virus afterwards is that the future of your files typically remains uncertain, even if you decide to comply with the hackers’ demands and pay the requested amount. That is because, for one, they may not send you decryption key, despite what they promise. This is actually a very common scenario and a very bitter one at that. In addition, even if they do send you one, there’s still no guarantee that it may work as expected, after all, programming can be tricky business. And guess what – there are no refunds in this business.

So what do you then? Well, there are several possibilities that you can try before agreeing to the criminals’ terms. For one, the removal guide we have below will certainly aid you in deleting .Mole Virus, which is important, unless you would like to go through the whole ordeal again on a later stage. In addition, as pointed out, that guide will also attempt to help you restore the affected data from system backups. This may or may not be successful, depending on each individual case, but won’t hurt to try anyway. Alternatively, we also have a list of decryptor tools, from which you may be able to find the one suitable for breaching the decryption .Mole Virus has placed on your data.

But your best friend in dealing with ransomware infections from now on will be keeping backups of your most important files on separate drives. This will ensure that even if you do again manage to contract an infection like this one, it won’t in essence be able to inflict any real damage on your system. Furthermore, learn to practice safe web browsing and avoid shady online locations that could potentially be sources of ransomware and other forms of malware. These are typically spam emails, especially those containing attachments – don’t open them. Other sources are infected websites, like illegal download platforms and the online ads that you see on them, etc.
