If you have no idea why your files have suddenly become inaccessible and a disturbing ransom note is now asking you to pay ransom to release them, then most probably you have become a victim of a Ransomware cryptovirus. This can be real trouble because if such a threat finds its way inside your computer, it can secretly encrypt all the data found on it and begin to ruthlessly blackmail you to pay a huge amount of money to reverse the malicious encryption. A new infection of this type called Mole2 Virus has recently been reported to cause that to its victims and in the next lines, we are going to reveal its specifics. Stay on this page if you have been attacked by this Ransomware because here we will do our best to help you remove the cryptovirus and give you some suggestions on how to restore some of our data.

How can file encryption be used for criminal purposes?

The file encryption mechanism is the strongest digital data protection method known to this world today. Thanks to a very complex combination of unique symbols, each and every file that gets encrypted becomes inaccessible without a special decryption key. This way, loads of sensitive information is kept secure from unauthorized access and many businesses and users from all over the world benefit from the almost unbreakable level of protection the encryption method provides. However, there are people, who use encryption for a very nasty form of robbery known as Ransomware. These people are hackers with malicious intentions, who create special cryptoviruses like Mole2 Virus and program them to secretly encrypt the data found inside the users’ computers. The idea behind this action is to ruthlessly blackmail the victims to pay ransom if they want to receive the decryption key for their files and access them again. Unfortunately, nowadays we are witnessing a tremendous growth of this criminal practice as more and more Ransomware threats appear and more and more people, organizations and businesses all over the world fall victim to this scheme.

If there are suspicious IPs below “Localhost” – write to us in the comments.

Type msconfig in the search field and hit enter. A window will pop-up:

msconfig_opt

Go in Startup —> Uncheck entries that have “Unknown” as Manufacturer.

  • Please note that ransomware may even include a fake Manufacturer name to its process. Make sure you check out every process here is legitimate.

Step4

WARNING!
To remove parasite, you may have to meddle with system files and registries. Making a mistake and deleting the wrong thing may damage your system.
Avoid this by using SpyHunter - a professional Parasite removal tool.

How to Decrypt Mole2 Virus files

We have a comprehensive (and daily updated) guide on how to decrypt your files. Check it out here.

How does Mole2 Virus operate?

The way Mole2 Virus infects and harms your computer differs significantly from a typical virus. Usually, such infection spreads through massive targeted attacks, where the malicious payload is normally masked as a spam email message, an attachment, a misleading link or a fake ad that looks absolutely legitimate and attractive. In most of the cases, the Ransomware sneaks inside the system through a Trojan horse or some exploit kit, which the users catch when they click on the malicious transmitter. The infection, unfortunately, lacks any visible symptoms that could raise the users’ attention. Most antivirus software may also fail to correctly identify the encryption process as malicious because, as we said above, the file encryption is a commonly used method for data protection, which is generally non-malicious.

When used in a criminal Ransomware scheme, however, an encryption placed by a cryptovirus like Mole2 Virus can cause you a lot of serious trouble. It will deprive you of accessing your important documents, photos, videos, office files, projects and all the valuable stuff you keep inside the computer. The hackers, who control the threat, will immediately publish a ransom note on your screen, once the damage is done, and will not hesitate to use various manipulative methods and threatening messages in order to make you pay. You may be asked to immediately make a Bitcoin payment within a given deadline, otherwise the decryption key for your files will be destroyed and you may never be able to open them again.

What can you do to deal with the Ransomware?

The situation that the victims of Ransomware are placed in may seem really helpless and frustrating. However, a key point in dealing with such threats is to be well informed about the risks and the alternatives, and not to act out of fear and frustration. A bit of research and some practical thinking can easily give the victims an idea of how unfair and risky it is to pay the ransom. Not only is this a form of direct sponsorship for such criminal practices, but also there is absolutely no guarantee that the hackers will send the decryption key once they get the ransom payment.

A much safer and risk-free alternative that will save you from the ransom payment is to remove Mole2 Virus and try to restore some of your files by other means. We can suggest you check your cloud storage, external drives or some other uninfected devices for copies of your files. If you have backups, you can use them but if you don’t, you can give our file-recovery instructions below a try. Before you attempt to restore anything, though, make sure you eliminate all the Ransomware traces from your system if you don’t want your restored files to get encrypted again. The instructions in the guide below will help you correctly identify and delete Mole2 Virus.
