This page aims to help you remove My1Tab “Virus”. Our removal instructions work for Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer, as well as every version of Windows.

As an introductory statement – the programs known as browser hijackers aren’t really dangerous. My1Tab “Virus” is a typical representative of their group. As such, it may integrate itself into all of the browser apps, installed on your PC: Opera, Explorer, Chrome, and Firefox. All of them and all the others might be targeted by this program and start behaving differently due to the infection with it: redirection to many unfamiliar web locations, changes in the appearance of the browsers when it comes to the default search engines and homepages, and some intensive ad broadcast are among the possible effects that could come along with My1Tab “Virus”.

What else could characterize the hijackers such as My1Tab “Virus”?

To begin with, browser hijackers may really infect a PC; however, the infection they might cause is not harmful or like that of a virus. It may simply be very annoying. So as to be considered dangerous, an infection needs to result from the activities of a version of malware – such as a Trojan, or a kind of Ransomware. Such contaminations are really, really harmful, totally unlike the one resulting from a browser hijacker. The truly malicious Trojan and Ransomware infections may result in encryption of files, the act of tracking some credentials and banking details; spying on you; some sort of blackmailing warnings and even at some point – identity theft. On the contrary, the hijackers we have dealt with so far may simply cause much annoyance due to their ability to redirect a user to sites they have never planned to visit; modification of their most preferred browser homepage and/or search engine, and also the generation of a really big number of different kinds of ads are also possible.

In what ways could any browser hijacker get distributed?

Typically, most hijackers find their way to your PC as parts of program bundles. In fact, these bundles are just several programs which are put together and spread around freely. Any user may get interested in downloading such a mix of software as they may really include some new or interesting games, programs, apps. Usually, such software mixes also contain a piece of ad-producing software such as a version of Adware, or of a hijacker. More precisely, we also have to mention that there could be some more hijacker sources like torrents, spam, contagious websites; however, the number of the contaminations coming from them is smaller than that of the ones coming as a result of the improper installation of a bundle.

Does this mean that downloading a bundle is actually the same as contracting My1Tab “Virus”?

No worries, this isn’t the case here. You can download any bundle and even use some programs from it, but without getting affected by any hijacker if you install the bundle properly. Installing any kind of software correctly means using the proper installation feature. They are the ones allowing you to install only some components of the bundle; and to ignore the unnecessary programs and features. The wizard options you can count on are the ones containing the words advanced or custom in their names. Keep in mind that going with them can sometimes even protect you from threats much more serious than My1Tab “Virus” (such as Trojan and Ransomware viruses).

Why do such programs get developed?

The concept of promoting products, software or services is not a new one. It has been going on on the radio and on TV. Nowadays advertising is being moved mainly online because more and more people have access to the web. Programmers and product manufacturers sign contracts of cooperation – the first party agrees to advertise a product effectively; while the latter agrees to pay lots of money for that. Then, developers get paid primarily on the basis of the total number of the opened or clicked-on pop-ups and banners (or other forms of ads). This business practice does not break any law in any way – you can be sure that the entire promoting activity is legal as a whole.
