What is the idea behind a Browser Hijacker program?
The truth about Hijackers is that they are more often than not created solely to benefit their creators without actually offering the regular user anything that is worthwhile. The majority of programs that can be categorized as Hijackers would normally have the ability to employ a number of advertising and marketing techniques which would allow them to generate money at the expense of the customer’s patience. Obviously, nobody would like to have their browsing program taken out of their control and customized in a way that certainly doesn’t contribute to a better online experience (quite the opposite, actually). However, it is through those changes that the developer of the invasive piece of software is able to gain income from their product. Surely, there are Hijacker-like programs out there that might actually have some form of useful function that would benefit the user as well but instances of such programs of the Browser Hijacker type are rarity.

What harm can come from Mys.Yoursearch.me “Virus”?
While Browser Hijackers like the one we are talking about in this article aren’t the most dangerous and harmful forms of PC software, one still needs to be vigilant and careful if they have one such program on their PC. Mys.Yoursearch.me “Virus” isn’t some form of noxious Ransomware or an insidious Trojan horse virus but it could still make it so that your computer system becomes less protected and more vulnerable to potential virus attacks. Normally, it is advisable that anyone who has a Hijacker program on their machine keep away from anything that gets generated and displayed by the irritating application. This includes the page redirects, potential advertising materials and pop-ups that might start appearing inside the browser and so on. It is probably also a good idea to avoid using the toolbar or search engine that could have been enforced upon the browser program by the Hijacker. All in all, the further away you stay from the sketchy piece of software, the better. As we mentioned, even though it is nowhere near as harmful and problematic as actual viruses (Trojans, Worms, Ransomware, etc.) it could still be a security risk and this is something that shouldn’t be left ignored.
How you can avoid landing Hijackers in the future
It is undoubtedly best if you simply manage to keep such undesirable programs away from your machine instead of having to go through the whole process of having them removed. Of course, if you do indeed have the nagging Hijacker on your PC, you can always use our guide manual down the page which will help you uninstall the program but it is important that you also learn how to keep your PC clean and safe in the future.
The majority of Hijacker developers tend to use a number of sneaky distribution methods for spreading their products and ensuring that they reach more and more users. Most notably, programs like Mys.Yoursearch.me “Virus” get distributed via spam social network messages and e-mails, misleading Internet advertisements, offers and warnings and software bundles. In order to avoid getting a Hijacker installed on your machine, you ought to be very considerate with regards to what you do while browsing the internet and what sites you visit. Also, do not open any new messages that might not seem reliable – spam is usually not that difficult to recognize yet being extra observant certainly won’t hurt. As far as the file bundles are concerned, be sure to always check the installation wizards of new programs that you want to install so as to see if there are any added applications to the main software piece. If you see anything shady as an optional install, untick it from the setup menu before you proceed with installing the program.
|Danger Level||Medium (nowhere near threats like Ransomware, but still a security risk)|
|Symptoms||Normally, the changes to your browser are more than enough to give away the Hijacker.|
|Distribution Method||Malvertising/misleading browser ads banners and offers, spam messages to your e-mail, Skype or social network accounts, file bundles, etc.|
|Detection Tool||We generally recommend SpyHunter or a similar anti-malware program that is updated daily.|
