Opt Out App Virus

Opt Out App

We have been receiving reports about a program called Opt Out app as of late and people have been asking our team to provide effective removal instructions for this annoying program. Opt Out is what is known as a browser hijacker and what it does is precisely that: it hijacks your Chrome, Firefox or other favorite browser. In doing so, it usually replaced the homepage and the default search engine with new ones and also tends to flood the screen of your device with annoying popups and banners. In addition, most users also report that their browsers randomly start redirecting them from the page they’ve been on to some random domains. Luckily, we have just the solution for you and you are free to make use of our professional removal guide below.

Why is Opt Out doing all of this?

Browser hijackers, though initially only plaguing desktop computer users, have now evolved to affect portable Android devices such as smartphones and tablets as well. The reason of their existence is the promotion of various products and services, by means of displaying dozens of ads on the users’ screens. As a result, the developers can also earn revenue based on the number of times a given ad had been opened or seen.

With this in mind, we can safely say that Opt Out is not a virus or malicious programs of any kind. It also doesn’t aim to harm you in any way. But its presence is typically unwanted anyway, because it doesn’t offer any useful functions for the end user. Furthermore, it ends up taking up valuable space and consuming your device’s battery and system resources. And on top of that, it can actually end up exposing you to far more serious threats, such as real viruses like Trojans and ransomware. This can result from interacting with the online ads that may lead to insecure web locations, for example.

Therefore, unless you actually find all the ads and aggressive marketing strategies useful, it’s actually better for your device that you remove Opt Out. You might also like to know where it came from to begin with. And the answer is it was likely integrated with some other app that you had installed earlier. This is normally how browser hijackers for Android smartphones and tablets are distributed. Therefore, if you would like to avoid such infections from now on, we would advise you to only used trusted download sources, such as the Google Play Store.

    • Maybe it’s not coming from those apps, what other apps do you have? Any new or newly-update ones are the most likely culprit.

    • It’s crucial that you first go through the guide and complete its steps. If this doesn’t help, then we will try to give you further assistance.

    • Hi Percy. So i was have this problem and i wasnt getting anywhere, people were saying safe mode or delete whichever app you last installed. However i got to find out that its not a virus and hence anti viruses dont work. Simply go to the bottom corner near where its written opt out in small print. Next to it the is a tab to view in full screen, tap on it. The app that opens is the one in which the spam ads are embedded. Unistall that app and all it’s residual files . The ads should stop there after. This worked for me. Hope it does for you too.

  • Hi Mykel, I have same problem, tried all the suggestions above still not solving the problem. I also noted that link to opt out. I tapped it and a page of my browser opened showing a link where it is suggested to download an “opt out app” at link http ://tracker- mercury. tpc. re/themes/tracker/optout-app-v-1.2. apk
Instructions say “download app, opt out to cancel the pop ups and then unisntall the app.”
Looks like a trap but what to do next?
I am really irritated, please help!

    • It is likely to be a ruse or at least a not very effective of handling the issue. It’s much better to find a way to uninstall or at least disable the main app that’s causing the disturbance. What recently installed apps do you have on your device?

    • It could be from an update to an app you’ve already had on your phone. What apps (other than the pre-installed ones) do you have?

  • I keep getting so many adds popping up when I’m in the middle of doing stuff sometimes important stuff online on my mobile and I lose place on what I was doing I’ve tried everything from stopping adds on google to downloading add blocking apps but nothing works can someone please help I keep getting bombarded with game center apps as well every day I get around 20-30sent to my mobile. What a nightmare.

    • Firstly, it’s important to complete the guide from this page. If none of the listed apps are on your phone and you still keep getting the annoying advertisements, you should check what other apps you have. Normally, the problem should be coming either from a recently installed application or from an app that got recently updated. You can tell us what apps you have if you like and we may be able to tell you the potential culprit.

  • In my case removing Solitaire fixed this issue. I found the culprit by running logcat in ADB and monitoring the output logs. When the ads launched I noticed this trace log in logcat:

    I/Timeline( 3600): Timeline: Activity_windows_visible id: ActivityRecord{2a1716e2 u0 com.ccltd.solitaire10/com.google.android.gms.ads.AdActivity t1150} time:2511349
