This page aims to help you remove Pimmuter “Virus”. Our removal instructions work for Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer, as well as every version of Windows.
Browser hijackers – it is a rather unpleasant experience to have to tolerate such software on your PC and yet those applications are more common that users would like them to be. New versions of this software group are getting released very frequently and their creators make sure that they are getting installed onto as many computers as possible in order to increase the overall profit earned from them. Down below, you are about to learn more about a page-redirecting browser hijacker application called Pimmuter “Virus” as well as find out what could be done in order to remove this intrusive software and prevent its future installation on your PC. The main reason why you might want to have Pimmuter “Virus” removed from your machine is because this application has altered the appearance and functionality of your browser (IE, Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Opera, etc.), replacing its default search engine and homepage, adding a new toolbar or causing sudden redirects to pages that you never wanted to visit in the first place. It is also possible that obnoxious ads might start spamming your screen and covering your browser which in turn is likely to make your online experience really frustrating. Not only that but Pimmuter “Virus” might also seek to collect data from your browser and later use it for the purposes of targeted advertising i.e. showing you advertising materials that are relevant to your supposed interests and preferences based on what you typically search for on the Internet and what websites you normally visit. As you can see, most of the things browser hijackers do can be really irritating, obstructive and unpleasant which is why most such software applications fall under the category of PUP (potentially unwanted programs). As we said, in this article we will help you get rid of Pimmuter “Virus” and also keep your PC clean in future. However, before we get to that, there are couple more things that need to be pointed out when talking about browser hijacker applications.

How do hijackers work and what is their main purpose?
A hijacker application is typically a tool primarily used for financial gain through generation and display of online advertisements and other promoted materials. Although in many instances the changes that a hijacker application makes to the browser are supposed to be helpful and beneficial to the user, this isn’t really the case with most of the hijackers. In fact, the browser modifications are typically introduced in order to facilitate the advertising process and make the ads exposure more effective and overwhelming. Furthermore, it might be really difficult to revert the changes made by the hijacker. In some cases, even if you manage to bring your browsing program back to normal, if there’s still a hijacker on your PC, it will likely re-impose the modifications the next time you start the browser or boot your PC. That is why, the best method to stop the intrusiveness and bring your browsing program back to normal is to remove the software that is causing all this (in this case, Pimmuter). A guide down below will show you exactly what needs to be done in order to fully remove and uninstall everything related to Pimmuter from your computer. Be sure to carefully follow the instructions and if you need additional help, you can try out the recommended security tool that can aid in the removal of the pesky hijacker application.
Advice regarding hijacker software
Despite not being deemed malicious or harmful, most hijackers might still represent a certain security risk to your system. Even though Pimmuter “Virus” isn’t some kind of nasty Trojan or Ransomware virus, you still need to keep away from the ads and page redirects that it is likely to display on your screen because it is within the realm of possibility that some of the could actually link to dangerous and hazardous webpages. Most hijacker-generated advertising materials should be harmless but you can never be too safe. Therefore, simply try to avoid any interaction with anything coming from Pimmuter “Virus” if you want to keep your machine protected against viruses like Trojan Horses, Worms, Spyware, Ransomware, Rootkits, etc.
One other essential thing that we need to point out in this article is the importance of keeping your machine safe and clean by avoiding the potential sources of unwanted and potentially dangerous software. Do not visit sites with bad reputation and do not download software that might be pirated. Also, if you think that a certain online message might be spam or that a certain Internet advert might be unsafe, make sure to avoid them. Lastly, whenever you are about to install anything new on your PC, check the expanded setup settings (Custom/Advanced) and see if there are any bundled optional installs in there. If you see that there’s anything added as an optional component, uncheck it if it looks unwanted or if you don’t think you would need it on your PC.
|Danger Level||Medium (nowhere near threats like Ransomware, but still a security risk)|
|Symptoms||Mostly unwanted changes to your browser and irritating ads showing up on your screen.|
|Distribution Method||The majority of hijackers get distributed through spam messages and file bundles.|
|Detection Tool||We generally recommend SpyHunter or a similar anti-malware program that is updated daily.|
