This page aims to help you remove Pttsite.com. Our removal instructions work for Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer, as well as every version of Windows.

Pttsite.com is a browser hijacker that can change the settings of browsers, installed on Windows-based computers. This potentially unwanted program (PUP) also referred to as a page-redirect can get installed inside the computer unnoticed, change the browser’s homepage, search engine or new tab page and begin to show aggressive and suspicious ads, pop-ups and banners. It may also initiate sudden redirects to pages it tries to promote and modify your search results, in favor of some sponsored sites. In the next lines, however, we will show you exactly how to remove the imposed changes and uninstall this software without any risk for your system. Just read the information that follows and proceed with the instructions in the Removal Guide below.

Pttsite.com may cause unwanted changes in your Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer and other browsers.

Typically, a browser hijacker like Pttsite.com is not malicious. It cannot corrupt your system like a Trojan horse or encrypt your files like a Ransomware. However, such software can be very annoying and prevent you from using your favorite browser properly.

For instance, Pttsite.com can cause unwanted redirects when you click on a link from the results page. Instead of opening the site you want, you may find yourself on a third-party commercial page. Or even worse, land you on some phishing web pages where you can lose your personal information or your money. Additionally, the presence of the browser hijacker on your system may significantly increase the risk of malware infections. Apart from the legitimate ads and offers, Pttsite.com may also display pop-ups and links with misleading or malicious content. For this reason, most computer security experts, including our “How to remove” team, do not recommend trusting and using the newly imposed search engine and the browsing toolbars because they may eventually lead you to potentially dangerous web pages or make you click on content, infected with Ransomware, Trojans or other viruses.

How to remove Pttsite.com and reset your browser settings?

To remove Pttsite.com and change the browser settings to the state they were before, you need to perform a full system scan with a professional and updated anti-malware program. Tools like the professional Pttsite.com removal software on the current page can easily find all data related to the hijacker and uninstall the unwanted software in a matter of minutes.

Still, you can also choose to manually remove Pttsite.com. We would like to warn you, though, that this method might turn out to be more difficult to less experienced users. So, to help you, we have prepared a detailed Removal Guide at the end of the article. Still, if you do not succeed with the manual instructions and the hijacker returns again, try the auto-removal. We also recommend that you reset the browser settings to delete tracking cookies or other hidden components.

To summarize, Pttsite.com may not be fatal for your system, but it may cause the following issues:

  • Change the home page or the default search engine of your browser;
  • Install unfamiliar plug-ins or browser extensions without requesting the users’ permission;
  • Modify the Windows Registry and the browser settings to prevent users from restoring the original settings;
  • Reduce one’s Internet surfing satisfaction due to the generation of a high number of ads and redirects;
  • Decrease the overall performance of the computer due to the above-mentioned activities or due to the tracking of information.
  • Expose the machine to real malware threats like the ones we already mentioned and many more (Trojans, Spyware, Worms, Ransomware, etc.).

Software bundling – the main method for distributing browser-hijackers

Many potentially unwanted applications are distributed through programs that can be downloaded for free on various web pages or P2P networks. Usually, pieces of programming like Pttsite.com are bundled inside the installer of the main program and they are set for installation by default. That’s why, they normally become part of the system along with the main software the moment the setup process completes. Unfortunately, most users make a major mistake when installing free software which is why they become potential targets for browser hijackers and other unwanted applications. The problem is that users often use “Recommended” or “Quick” setup settings that do not disclose the presence of the third-party applications that may have been included in the software packages. Using “User” or “Advanced” settings, however, will help you avoid the added software. When you click on the “Advanced” setup, you should uncheck the checkboxes of all the bundled/added apps that look questionable, unwanted or simple unneeded. It does not matter that they promise to improve your browsing or optimize your computer – if you cannot recognize these applications or simply don’t want them on your PC, just unmark the checkboxes and proceed to the next steps of the setup.
