This page aims to help you remove Rapid 2.0 Ransomware for free. Our instructions also cover how any Rapid 2.0 file can be recovered.

Your computer could get attacked by many types of malware. One of the most malicious, however, is the Ransomware virus category. In this article, we are going to talk about one particular Ransomware virus named Rapid 2.0 which has recently been causing trouble to a big number of users. This piece of malware is a crypto-virus, and as such, it causes its harm by encrypting the files that can be found inside the infected computer. If you have recently noticed that you cannot open or use any of your images, videos, audio files, archives or other documents, you most probably have fallen victim to a Ransomware such as Rapid 2.0. One sure way to know that this is indeed what has happened is if you have a ransom notification, which the Ransomware displays on the screen after completing its encryption. This notification informs you about the infection and asks you to pay ransom if you want to decrypt your files. Fortunately, we have published a special Removal Guide with detailed instructions on how to remove this nasty malware. We will also share some tips with you on what to try if you want to potentially recover some of your data without paying the ransom. This and more information, you will find in the next lines, so keep on reading.

How harmful is Rapid 2.0 Ransomware?

Ransomware is a type of malware, which operates as a blackmailing tool. Its creators are criminals who want to extort money from their victims by blocking their data or the access to their machine until they pay a certain amount of money, usually in Bitcoins. Various manipulative methods are employed in the process, including threatening messages, short deadlines, increase of the demanded ransom amount and others. A secret decryption key is promised to those who agree to fulfill the ransom demands, however, no guarantees can really be given for the effective decryption of the affected data.

Rapid 2.0 Ransomware is exactly such a kind of malware threat, but what makes it extremely dangerous is the fact that, so far, there are no 100% effective methods, which can always guarantee a complete recovery from its attack. What is more, there are no 100% sure methods for prevention and protection either. Such Ransomware can sneak inside any computer undetected (mostly through spam messages, infected email attachments, or via Trojan horse attacks) and it rarely triggers any particular symptoms.

Step5

How to Decrypt Rapid 2.0 files

We have a comprehensive (and daily updated) guide on how to decrypt your files. Check it out here.

If the guide doesn’t help, download the anti-virus program we recommended or try our free online virus scanner. Also, you can always ask us in the comments for help!

Usually, the file-encryption process happens in the background and, in most of the cases, even the user’s antivirus software may not detect it. The reason is, the encryption itself is not a malicious process and it does not damage or corrupt the data. It simply keeps it protected from those, who have no decryption key. Unfortunately, in the case of Ransomware, the hackers are the only people who have that key and they ask for a big amount of money in order to send it to the victims. Will they really send you what you pay for, though, nobody can really tell you. The crooks may disappear or they may decide to double the ransom and ask for more money, or simply send you a key that doesn’t work. The risk is all yours for the taking, but we will definitely not encourage you to give in to their ransom demands.

If you don’t want to pay any ransom, you may want to explore some other possible alternatives. Many security experts work day and night to provide solutions against Ransomware infections, but the new ones, such as Rapid 2.0, may sometimes take more time than expected. From the information that we have so far, you should know that there are not many methods that can help you counteract the effects of Rapid 2.0 Ransomware on your system. Still, we will try to offer you some, which we hope will be effective in your case. First and foremost, we suggest that you remove the Ransomware as soon as possible. This is an essential step, which will make your PC safe for further use and any file-restoration attempts that may follow. In most of the cases, you may need additional assistance on that, either from a reputed malware removal tool, or a detailed removal guide, just like the ones below. Do not get surprised if your files remain encrypted even after you effectively remove Rapid 2.0 Ransomware. Ransomware is a really nasty type of malware, the encryption of which may not disappear in spite of the virus being gone. To recover your files, we encourage you to take a look at the file-restoration section below or use any file backup copies that you may keep on external drives, cloud storage, and other devices. You may also decide to contact a professional of your choice for additional assistance, as he may be able to help you minimize the negative effects of the Ransomware to a certain extent and offer you some reliable preventive measures.
