Dear reader, this article is directed at the Adware known as Ads By ArcadeHall, so if you are looking for a way to get rid of this pest then you’ve come to the right place. The removal guide at the bottom will handle that part, but we strongly encourage you to devote a few minutes for the rest of the article. Knowing how Ads By ArcadeHall landed in your browser will definitely help you not to end up in a similar situation in the future.
Ads By ArcadeHall – a simple overview
The word Adware is a fusion between Advertisement and Malware and is associated with viruses that generate unwanted ads. Naturally Ads By ArcadeHall is a typical example of adware.
Keep in mind that the ads you see are fake – they are generated on your own computer and only you see them. This process is done on your CPU, so if your computer has been behaving poorly lately then Ads By ArcadeHall is likely to blame. Following the ads is dangerous, but if you are feeling curious know this – ads will usually lead to unrelated sites who will try to sell you something – which often won’t even be a real product. In fact all ads share these common goals:
- At the very least waste your time.
- Will try to trick you into spending money on a fake product offer.
- Any downloads will be in fact malware.
Ignore them! However, know that the ads may also take different forms and pose as different other programs. You might also be seeing any of the following things:
- Warnings to install a missing plug-in.
- Some form of media player window that needs a certain video player before showing the video.
- An update to an outdated program you have already installed on your computer.
- An offer to download a free program – often an anti-virus scanner or the like.
All of these seek to make you download and install a file and that file is most certainly a virus. Such tricks are common – you may also see them on random sites around the internet. They are a very good indicator that these sites are unsafe.
If you are by any chance interested in one of the programs offered (Ads By ArcadeHall may use legitimate program names to look more legitimate) you should google that program’s name and download it from the official site making sure its virus free in the process.
One more trick to be aware of
Adware will sometime come as part of a program bundle. Most free programs from small companies offer a couple of extra programs to be installed via their installer. Unfortunately sometimes the extra programs will be Adware. That’s why we recommend to always go with the advanced installation option. It gives you control of what exactly is getting installed. Deny access to all extras you don’t need or deem suspicious.

This is perhaps the most important and difficult step, so be extremely careful. Open the Task Manager by right clicking on the Taskbar and choosing Start Task Manager.
Once it opens, choose the Processes Tab. Look at all of the processes in front of you and try to determine which ones are a virus. Google them or ask us in the comments and we will provide the best assistance we can. If the virus returns later on, the reason is that you missed something here.
Right click on each of the virus processes separately and select Open File Location. Also, End the process after you open the folder. Just to make sure we don’t delete any programs you mistakenly took for a virus, copy the folders somewhere, then delete the directories you were sent to.
We’ve had reports that this virus can come back after you uninstall it. This usually takes place on system boot. If this happens, do the following:
Type Regedit in the windows search field and press Enter.
Once inside, press CTRL and F together and type the virus’s Name. Right click and delete any entries you find with a similar name. Alternatively, if you can’t find any this way, look in these directories, and delete the registries manually:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER—-Software—Microsoft Internet Explorer—-Main—- Random
