You have been infected by “Ads by Buy to Joy” ? This article includes Ads by Buy to Joy removal instructions.
This virus is pretty resilient and all traces of it need to be deleted, otherwise it’s quite possible that it regenerates to greet you the next time you start your computer. If you’re planning to do this manually then our Removal Guide will come in handy, but don’t rush to it just yet. Learning what tricks these things use to bypass system security is just as valuable information, because it’s much easier to block the virus before going in then to delete it when it’s already installed.
Don’t click on the Ads!
Many people intuitively mistrust all Ads found in the internet – and in the case of Adwares like Ads by Buy to Joy – for a very good reason. Basically nothing you see on those Ads is real – they are all fake and created only for you to see. The sites they link to are incredibly dangerous. Not only they will sell you worthless copies of different programs, but the file download may actually be another virus
Often Ads will try to pose as something else entirely – perhaps even as a system message. Pop-ups will alert you of many kinds of danger your PC may be exposed to or problems that need resolving. Some examples:
- Some missing plug-in/video player/codec is required before you can see some media file.
- One of your programs is outdated and potentially dangerous. The virus offers to download the update for it.
- You have errors within your registry file that main cause corruption of files. A free utility program can be downloaded to fix them.
- Your PC has been infected with a number of Trojans or other viruses. A free anti-virus program can delete them for you.
It’s a simply pattern, but a devilishly effective one against unsuspecting victims. The file offered will be a virus, potentially a very dangerous one to boot.
This scheme is so popular, that you may see similar pop-ups and banners on many different internet sites that are unrelated to Ads by Buy to Joy. Their presence is a very clear indication that a site is unsafe and you should consider twice before installing anything downloaded from such a site.
Program bundles – a common backdoor entrance
Ads by Buy to Joy – and many similar Adwares – enjoy a semi-legitimate status before the law, as the ads themselves are not dangerous and the Adware will always ask for your approval before installing. Whether you realized or not that you approved Adware is an entirely different matter, as deception is their motto.
Program bundles are program installers that install the main program plus a number of additional ones (often Demo or Free) as an extra. Unfortunately often, especially if the main thing is freeware, a number of these extras may be Adware. For this reason we recommend to avoid the default installation and go advanced, so you can deny access to any program that you don’t need or looks suspicious.[/text_block_nav][text_block_nav title=”How To Remove Ads by Buy to Joy”]
