The goal is to panic and goad you into getting the offered file – which is the virus. Ads by Huge Apps is not a rootkit – it cannot download and install files on its own. That authorization must come from the human user, so the goal is to deceive you into giving it.
For as long as you have Ads by Huge Apps on your computer you should not trust any messages from your internet browser and especially never run any files you were prompted to install by an Ad.

Hi! I did all the steps you told me to, but I didn’t find any of the things I was supposed to delete each step. However, the virus/program is still running on my laptop. When i go to extensions to delete it, I see it briefly for a perhaps a split second before it disappears. It seems as though the virus has been updated so it cannot be detected using any of the usual means that you have described above. Do you have any advice to maybe go into Command Prompt and sort out the issue?
Hello! Sorry for the late reply. First off, which browser are you talking about here? If it’s for Chrome, try doing the following:
Download Chrome Apps & Extensions Developer Tool from the google app store (so you know it’s 100% legitimate). Run the application and go under the extensions tab. If you can see the virus there as an “unpacked” extension, remove it. Did that fix your problem?
You can also go in msconfig again as described in the guide, but this time under the “services” tab. Hunt down Ads by Huge Apps there.
