Remove Ads by La Superba Virus From Chrome/Firefox/IE and Iphone

This article aims to help users remove Ads by La Superba from Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer and Android Iphones, as well as their respective system. The virus can also be seen as Ads by La Superba, Powered by LaSuperba or something entirely else.

Remove Ads by LaSuperba Virus

Powered by LaSuperba:

Here’s a notable fact: there’s a good chance you will encounter this virus with the name “Powered by Lasuperba”. This is in fact exactly the same thing as all other iterations listed here. The goal of whoever created this thing was to confuse you, and most likely to confuse search engine queries that may discern it as an entirely different thing. “Powered by Lasuperba” refers to the practice of  advertisement platforms to, well, advertise themselves, in order to attract potential customers. Obviously this is tongue in cheek. Or perhaps “Powered by Lasuperba” is supposed to be an act, as if these are legitimate ads? I’m not entirely sure, but the result is that many people search for the virus by this name.

Ads by La Superba is a type of potentially unwanted software that could also be classified as an Adware virus. It creates advertisements as you browse the internet and it will use them to relentlessly harass you until you remove Ads by La Superba for good. These Ads can take many shapes and form – they could be presented as pop-up windows, banners, fresh new internet pages and sometimes they could even turn words from the text you read into hyperlinks plus a pop-up picture.

In addition to being annoying Ads by La Superba may also severely slow down your computer. Because an Ad will load every time you do something with your browser this means double the work for your CPU – it has to load the Ad and the page at the same time. On somewhat older or slower machines this can amount to several seconds of delay, freezes and unresponsiveness. The delay could be even greater if your internet connection is poor.

How was I infected with Ads by La Superba?

The most likely scenario is that you installed Ads by La Superba yourself believing you were installing something else entirely. It’s worth remembering that viruses are almost exclusively executable files (files ending with .exe). Executable files can modify things on your computer as they see fit as long as you give them permission to do so – by starting them. Remember that there can be no correlation between the name of an executable file and what it actually does. When you run an .exe file you are simply trusting the person that created the .exe file not to do something malicious. This is precisely the reason torrent and random online torrent sites are very dangerous. Any file downloaded from them could be malicious. Anti-virus and anti-malware scanners help in that regard, but they are far from flawless too.

5: Permanently remove Ads by La Superba from Task Manager’s processes.
6: Delete the virus from Regedit and Msconfig.

Remove Ads by La Superba Virus (Powered by LaSuperba)

Before you start the removal process you have to understand that there are multiple versions of Ads by La Superba in existence. This is because virus creators like to tweak and modify their viruses in order to make them more difficult to be rid of. This results in multiple copies of the virus circulating – newer viruses almost certainly requiring more and more difficult steps before they are removed.

This article is written in a way to be able to remove all copies of Ads by La Superba, but this also means not all steps may be necessary if you are plagued by an older version of Ads by La Superba. Proceed with the removal steps, but remember that some of these might not list Ads by La Superba for removal. If that is the case don’t worry and simply proceed to the next step.

Keep in mind, SpyHunter’s malware detection tool is free. To remove the infection, you'll need to purchase its full version. More information about SpyHunter and steps to uninstall.

Next we have to clean all copies of Ads by La Superba from your internet browsers. To do that you have to run steps 2&3 for each browser you have installed on your computer. Note that Ads by La Superba infected ALL of them when it came into your PC – this includes any old browsers that are still present in your PC, but you may no longer be using (like Internet Explorer for people who use a different browser)

While you are removing Ads by La Superba some confirmation message may pop-up to dissuade you from that course of action. Alternatively it might offer you free software installations or other hooks. Don’t fall for this bait – Ads by La Superba is just trying to install another virus on your computer.

(Works for XP, 7,  8,  8.1)

Hold the Windows Key and R together. Write appwiz.cpl in the new field, then click OK.

You are now in the Control Panel. Search around for Ads by La Superba and anything else suspicious-looking. Uninstall it/them. Also, be extremely careful. Viruses often spend one last ditch effort to trick you into installing more of their kind. If you see a screen like this when you click Uninstallchoose NO:

Hold the Windows Key and R againbut this time copy + paste the following and click OK:

notepad %windir%/system32/Drivers/etc/hosts

A .txt file will open – don’t touch anything there. If you are hacked and someone has access to your PC, there will be a bunch of other IPs connected to you at the bottom. This is what a hosts file looks like:

hosts_opt (1)

If there are a bunch of strange IPs connecting to you below “Localhost” you may be hacked, and it’s best to ask us in the comments for directions.

Go to STEP 5.

Open the Task Manager by right clicking on the Taskbar and choosing Start Task Manager.

Once it opens, choose the Processes Tab. Look at all of the processes in front of you and try to determine which ones are a virus. Google them or ask us in the comments and we will provide the best assistance we can.

Now you have to perform the most difficult and dangerous step in this guide, which is also absolutely mandatory if you want to permanently delete Ads by La Superba. Be very careful, because if you do this wrong you could damage your OS significantly. If you are not feeling comfortable, we advise you to download a professional Ads by La Superba remover program to handle this for you. This is actually a great idea if you can afford it – you can also use it to scan your computer for other viruses. The most dangerous viruses do not show themselves to you until it’s too late and only an automated scan can find them before they do any serious damage.

Right click on each of the virus processes separately and select Open File Location. Also, End the process after you open the folder. Just to make sure we don’t delete any programs you mistakenly took for a virus, copy the folders somewhere, then delete the directories you were sent to.

Move on to STEP 6.

Take a look at the following things:

Type msconfig in the search field and hit enter: you will be transported to a new window.

Go in the Startup tab and Uncheck anything that has “Unknown” as Manufacturer.

Type Regedit in the windows search field and press Enter.

Once inside, press CTRL and F together and type the virus’s Name. Right click and delete any entries you find with a similar name. If you can’t find them this way, look in these directories, and delete the registries manually:

  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER—-Software—–Random numbers
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER—-Software—Microsoft—-Windows—CurrentVersion—Run– Random
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER—-Software—Microsoft—Internet Explorer—-Main—- Random

    XXX.X.X.X. Localhost

    This should be deleted, correct?

    Thank you!

    • Stefan Sadakov

No, this is part of macafee, a program you probably have on your PC. It’s perfectly safe. Don’t delete it. If you have a bunch of IPs with not mention of a website opposite them, then maybe you should delete those. If you run into any more problems just ask me 🙂
