How To Remove Ads By Name From Firefox

Ads By Name Overview

  1. Ads By Name (also known as Name Ads or Name Deals) is a virus of the adware type that should be removed as soon as you identify it. Adware are not immediately dangerous,  but they serve as a stepping stone for other, more problematic threats to enter your PC, which makes them a severe security risk.
  2. Make sure not to click on the advertisements. Very often they reroute you towards a website that has nothing to do with the advertisement you were viewing and the new site is filled with malware.
  3. Once you’ve dealt with it, triple check if others of its type haven’t slithered in, since they serve the same function as Ads By Name and the removal may basically have no effect.
  4. Our research shows that the most widespread method for infections of this type are bundles. Free programs especially are very susceptible to this.

BEWARE! LOOK HERE! OK, so here’s the deal. Probably the most important thing you should remember is that these things are not sophisticated enough to navigate their way without you granting them access. So they try to trick you by displaying messages about missing plugins, please-click-here-to-download-and-continue, and inexisting newer versions for a variety of reputable programs (Java and Adobe Flash Player most of the time). If you agree to download anything at all from these messages, another adware will take root in your system and you will not be rid of the problems even if you remove Ads By Name. Remember – just ignore everything for the time being even if you are 90% sure it’s not part of the virus. Because maybe it will be. A lot of times malware also pose as a removal tool for viruses.

How To Avoid Ads By Name (And Other Malware)

There are several known ways for users to contract viruses, and that is immediately tied to how you should protect yourself from Ads By Name and co. The first way is through spam email – don’t open any links and attachments even if you for some reason decide it’s a genuine e-mail. Spam is easily noticed because of bad grammar. Moving on, the biggest and most widely known way is the process called bundling – meaning one program is installed with another or through another. MacaFree Security for example is a typical bundle. Whenever you download a version of Flash Player  there is a checkbox that asks if you want to include MacaFree. In this instance virus makers do not want you to easily spot their creation, so they “fail” to disclose it properly. Most of the time you just need to have your eyes peeled and read some of the text. Here is an example:

Most users however do not read the text, and just click Accept. If this happened to you, simply remember to skim through any text in the future and if you spot anything about advertisements, run away like it’s fire.
