Any Angle Ads – an overview
Any Angle Ads belongs to a type of viruses commonly named adware – chiefly because its primary method of operation is to swarm your internet browser’s screen with advertisements. Note that these may also include offers for “free” programs (even anti-virus), updates on existing programs or or prompts to install “missing” plug-ins or video players.
- Important! Any offer made by Any Angle Ads should be ignored, especially anything that offers to install anything on your computer. Adware of this type is interconnected – and it WILL try to install more of its brethren on your computer or even more malicious malware. Close all pages and terminate all downloads and installations with the Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del).
Any Angle Ads actively scans your browsing history and try to analyze your habits and preferences to create plausible content. On its own this is not that dangerous, but it can also try to copy online services log-in details, credit card numbers and other potentially dangerous data. Sooner then later all of this will be send to the virus’ creator.
- Warning! After removing Any Angle Ads the best course of action is to replace all passwords on everything online that is important to you.
Moving on to methods of spreading
As for writing adware shares some similar method of spreading around the web. Listed below are those that are most commonly met with.
- Through free programs – free programs can be a boon, since they are free of charge and are often to rival or even best paid software. However, as the saying goes about the free lunch there is also a catch with free programs. They often come bundled with adware or unwanted toolbars, for which the creators are paid on every installation. It is always recommended to use the advanced installer option with these types of programs and read carefully the text boxes, remove the ticks on any boxes that allow installation of suspicious extras.
-
Via fake download hubs – these sites are sprouting like mushrooms and google can’t keep up with shutting them down, they have algorithms that copy the search details of the user and return “perfect” matches – which is of course an executable file containing the virus. Don’t trust unfamiliar sites with random downloads and always pay attention to the file extensions – viruses will be .executables. Even if you downloaded an archive file (.zip .rar etc) the file archived inside may be the virus .exe!
