This page aims to help you remove Our removal instructions work for Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer, as well as every version of Windows.

If there are ads I your browser every time you open the program and if you are constantly getting bombarded with obstructive page redirects and random banner pop-ups and blinking messages and also if all of a sudden the search engine of your browser and/or its homepage have gotten replaced by new ones and now you are unable to bring the old ones back, then you most likely have a browser hijacker on your hands and should stay on this page in order to learn how to deal with it.

Browser hijackers are mostly harmless pieces of software that belong to the category of PUP/PUA (potentially unwanted programs/applications). If you have a hijacker on your PC, it should by now be obvious why one would regard this type of software as potentially unwanted. You can have a hijacker on any browser – IE, Edge, Chrome, Firefox, Opera as well as on other less popular browsing programs. It is typical for the majority of users to assume that their machine has fallen victim of some nasty piece of malware like a Trojan Horse infection or a cryptovirus of the Ransomware category once they start seeing the changes in their browser and the constant barrage of ads, banners and page redirects. However, the good news here is that the hijacker apps are rarely anything more than irritating pieces of software that seek to make money through paid ads. The idea is that the users with a hijacker on their PC would eventually click on some of the ads and would thus earn Pay-Per-Click revenue for the hijacker developers. Of course, you won’t benefit from that in any way and it is therefore better to simply uninstall the hijacker. Below, you can learn how to remove a Hijacker named from your PC. Since this is currently one of the most widespread hijackers, we assume that most of you are on this page exactly because of Removal

We get asked this a lot, so we are putting it here: Removing parasite manually may take hours and damage your system in the process. We recommend downloading SpyHunter to see if it can detect parasite files for you.

Press CTRL + SHIFT + ESC at the same time and go to the Processes Tab (the “Details” Tab on Win 8 and 10). Try to determine which processes are dangerous.

Right click on each of them and select Open File Location. Then scan the files with our free online virus scanner:

Drag and Drop Files Here to Scan
Maximum file size: 128MB.

This scanner is free and will always remain free for our website's users. You can find its full-page version at:

After you open their folder, end the processes that are infected, then delete their folders.

Note: If you are sure something is part of the infection – delete it, even if the scanner doesn’t flag it. No anti-virus program can detect all infections.

Hold together the Start Key and R. Type appwiz.cpl –> OK.

You are now in the Control Panel. Look for suspicious entries. Uninstall it/them.

Type msconfig in the search field and hit enter. A window will pop-up:

Startup —> Uncheck entries that have “Unknown” as Manufacturer or otherwise look suspicious.

To remove parasite on your own, you may have to meddle with system files and registries. If you were to do this, you need to be extremely careful, because you may damage your system.

If you want to avoid the risk, we recommend downloading SpyHunter
a professional malware removal tool.

What you should know about

It is definitely much more problematic if your PC gets infected by a Ransomware, a Spyware, a Trojan Horse or a Rootkits malware program compared to getting a hijacker installed on your computer. That being said, hijackers are still not to be regarded as perfectly safe and reliable pieces of software. Some of them might even come with some helpful functions to at least partially make up for the intrusiveness of the ads but you have to remember that the fact that random advertisements are getting streamed to your browser screen is, in and of itself, a potential security risk. You just can’t know what is waiting for you on the other side of the next hijacker-generated commercial and, also, there is usually not much control over the safety of those advertisements. This is why the wise thing to do here is to use our removal guide or the antimalware program inside it and through them ensure that the hijacker is eliminated. Also, in the future, make sure that you only download new software from dependable and trusted sources and even then install it through the Advanced options so as to verify there’s nothing added to the installer that might be unwanted.

Type  Browser Hijacker
Danger Level Medium (nowhere near threats like Ransomware, but still a security risk)
Symptoms  The adverts, the pop-ups, the page redirects and the changes to the browser are the most typical symptoms of a hijacker invasion.
Distribution Method Most such apps get distributed through spam messages and software installation bundles.
Detection Tool
